With the old dogs limping into the 'Nats... literally, and the youngins' healthy, it's not looking good for James and Chad!
Everyone likes to look at individual lap times as if that's the telling story of what's to come, but it isn't! One fast lap time a championship does not make.

The two Ryan's have dominated SX/MX from 2010 to present, both have had way more consistency coupled with great speed for the past four years. Well, almost four... when one fo them wins the 2013 MX Title it will be complete.

I know some peeps like to hope JS7 and Speedy Reedy will win again, I just don't see it happening. It's time to accept it Wink

As far as the rookies go, they will be fine, just not title contenders! It's been a long SX season, and now with MX added simply the two Ryan's can handle that grind more easily than anyone else. They're the strongest.

Hard to say, I think Reed is done, and im waiting to pass judgement on JS7 he is hurt afterall and the last time he was healthy on the Suzuki he was just a c*nt hair faster than Dungey but that only lasted two races.

Kind of hard to call the Ryans new guard when both have 450 titles in both MX and SX
The guard has already changed a few years ago.
The new guard would be more like Canard,Barcia,Weimer,Wilson etc.
Reed and Stewart are more of Veterans of the class and on the downside of their careers.

Matthes would call it a new era.
And JT$, if he were so inclined, might call it a new eeeera.

Yeah, I can't wait!

But have you ever noticed how JT$ pronounces it? It's always eera, like Lake Erie. Meanwhile Matthes calls it eh-ra. But then Matthes says rooned instead of ruined.
Does noticing this random shit make me a Pulp super fan? Haha!

Anyway yeah, back to the topic....I agree that things are changing in MX.

Nope, no changing of the guard. Villopoto and Dungey are still the guys to beat. Wink

Shoot, I thought this thread was about the changing of the current guard (Ryan and Ryan) with the new guard ( Barcia, Wilson, etc.) I guess I'm one step too far ahead.

Too early to tell. RV and Dungey are healthy and Stewart still has the outdoor speed to run with them. Reed slipped in SX this year but he also has shown an ability to regroup and find his speed. We'll have to see what Barcia and Canard have for the old dogs of the 450f class. In addition, Mike Alessi is only going to be faster outdoors this year.

someone named Ryan has won every championship since Reed's national title in 2009... i think the guard changed long ago.

still a huge Reed fan and Stewie is still one of the best when healthy, but anyone who thinks the Ryan's aren't going to keep winning is clueless.

I was thinking the same thing.
