Pretty much everything on the schedule is 30 minutes earlier than the usual schedule. I believe that includes the start time. That's to accommodate the length of the 250 East and West main events.

Hey I've got a question. I'm flying in on Friday but we are driving back home on Sunday. Is it better to leave early in the morning or late in the evening to miss the traffic?

I'm thinking we stay all day and play in Vegas and then come back that night?

Leaving any time between 8:00am and 5:00pm is an utter fucking nightmare headed back to Cali. Just straight up parking lot in the middle of the desert.

Pretty much what I was thinking. Haven't been out there in about 4 years so didn't know if it changed much.

I don't think it gets much better at night, the morning on Sunday is your best bet, on big event weekends like that. I-15 from Primm to Barstow is a parking lot like he said above but I've seen it that bad as late as 8pm on my way into Vegas on a Sunday. Remember there's also the Mayweather fight this weekend.

you're best bet, on a big weekend (supercross / fight), is to either leave at 5am, or stay until 8pm....anything in between that, theres a HUGE chance of sitting in a parking lot...

Everyone does that! You will be in traffic and make sure you fill up in Vegas. When you need it again it will cost you.

Take the Cima, Kelso, Nipton, Needles desert route that brings you through 29 palms. Won't be a car on the road and highway 62 dumps you out on 10.

Might be a little longer milage, but at least you're not sitting still on 15.

^^^^^^^^ This is good advice. I think its the 2nd exit into Cali. There might still be a small gas station selling $6 gas at the exit.

Which is why no one will listen.

The exit is "Nipton road"

then you turn on to Ivanpahh which brings you to Cima
then it's Kelso Cima road to left on kelbaker road
right on National trails hwy, then
left on amboy road.

amboy road takes you through Amboy (Charles Manson's hometown) and into twentynine palms hwy (62) which hits 10 in Palm springs and from there you'll know how to get home.

I was stationed in 29 palms and hung out in Vegas almost every weekend. I know and used this route so many times, and the only cars i ever saw were state troopers.

Just make sure you are topped off on gas when you leave Vegas because you wont be able to get it again until 29 palms.

If you think you are going to be sneaky and take highway 40 into barstow, youll be sitting in the same traffic jam.

Have fun, whichever route you take. click this and scroll out, you can see the whole route, starting at "Nipton road".

Agreed, two weeks ago I left Vegas at about 4:30 - 5:00 pm didn't get through the Cajon Pass on I-15 until about 11:30. I've always found mornings to be best, earlier the better.

Thanks to those above for the alternate route suggestion. Adds 60 miles for me, but, would probably be worth it. A couple of other short cuts off I-15. If traffice is backing up for the Ag station, you can take Yermo rode that parallels I-15. Also if Traffic backs up at I-40/I-15, take Old Hwy 58 to N 1st to main street and you can by pass the backup.

what you should do, is follow the route i mentioned, but on HWY62, instead of taking it all the way to 10, make a right in Yucca Valley on "old woman springs road" (its the light with the Walmart)

This will take you out to bear valley road. bear valley road runs right into the 15 at a shopping mall.

There are options. I'd rather impale my balls with a wine cork than sit in traffic, so i got to know those desert routes well.
