Racing or practicing, I think we can all agree that being on a dirtbike is enough to satisfy, right?

im noit doing either this year I think. seeing as I have no money have a kid coming, if things go right moving for a job and three bikes that don't run that I don't want to pay to get running.

I won't race again unless I'm sure I'll get at least 6 laps per moto. I know how hard it is to make everyone happy, but I'm not going out and spending $100 and sitting around from dawn till dusk to ride 2 laps of practice and two 4 lap motos. Simple as that.

Not for me. I have tried many times "just to ride" without racing, eventually I always succomb to the allure of the battle...

Love to race, but when I start getting down or frustrated with my results I go practice to give myself a reminder of why I love being on my dirt scoot. Its easy to get burnt out when you just race and find yourself in a struggling rut. Need to go free yourself and your mind. Yup.

I was about to say something similar but to go with a 250 two stroke. They are cheap, easy to fix and are totally competitive locally in anything but maybe the A classes. Most local races now allow them in the 250 class plus two stoke only classes are popping up everywhere. You can even go for it and race them in the 450 class, they are down 5 hp or better but are 20 lbs lighter and will cut under most 450's with no effort. The way I see it if you have a 250 ring ding you can race at least three classes a day and have a blast while doing so; long live the two stroke!

100 dollar race days? More like $200, 30 to 40 per class, gate fee and fuel for bike and truck!

The $100 is just gate fee, entry fee to one class and some kind of prorated membership fee that we always seem to pay. I don't mind the money so much, but I do mind sitting around all day to ride 10 laps. When we to to a practice day we ride 3 times as much in 1/3 the time for half the cost.

I did the same thing as Rup...literally. Good job on the "technically 2nd place" buddy! You kept those guys ahead of you working for it. Sons of Rupert need to hang over fence farther and learn how to throw rocks harder...Smile

Rup: 10+ hours to knock out 300+ riders?? I was a LL ME Area Q at Ballance over 850 entries for weekend were done by easy by 3PM each day....Sunday Racing finished by 2:30PM. Good A class Sunday...36 riders in 450A class.

No-one runs a tigher ship than Victory Sports!! They don't mess around. No intermissions, no track maint breaks, gate drop, gate drop, gate drop.....DONE!!

Home in time to do some mowing before dark....

Lastly, practice or race??

I was very impressed by the way Victory Sports ran the weekend. It went like clockwork, no long delays anywhere. They started early, and kept a steady pace all day long. Finishing early was a plus since I had a 600+ mile drive home. Got home at 3am Monday morning, but it was worth it. Got to race with the Teenagers on Saturday, and then 45+ and 50+ on Sunday.

This weekend heading to a local race, will probably go out with the teenagers in C, and also 45+ since they won't have a 50+ this weekend.

I will take racing anytime over a practice day. It is one of the few things that still makes you feel like a kid when you get older.
