I know there's a guy from NJ on Thumpertalk that bought a brand new 2013 YZ250 for around $4000 because it was totalled by the insurance company for water damage after Sandy. In reality the bike probably had very little "damage" whatsoever and the guy got a sweet bike. It will still have an reconstructed or Salvage title which may or may not matter to subsequent buyers.

It wouldn't surprise me if someone sucked up a bunch of these water damage bikes and is now trying to turn a quick buck.
