Just watching the races now...

How many times has James yardsaled over his career from tuff blocks?

Seriously, his heat race crash was hilarious and also really dissapointing. You watch his practice vids and he rides off the edge of jumps whoops etc so much... Maybe he should get some at home hahaha...

Is there an obstacle on the track that James hasn't yardsaled on?

I think at this point there is a clear pattern and common denominator.

that wreck was nasty... lucky he was able to slide down the landing like he did.

i was watching it with my friend who is a huge Stewart fan... when the cameras were watching someone else the crowd went crazy and there were a ton of yellow flags. my buddy said, "shit, i bet it's stewart". shitty deal, sucks to see him having another rough go of it. any word on what was wrong with his wrist/hand in the main?

He said he injured it in the heat race crash, but it wasn't bad enough to keep him from racing the LCQ and Main. But he said he cased a triple in the main and it jarred it real bad and he couldn't deal with it after that.

Canard had a little issue with a tuff block last year.

The year before that RV had a tuff block issue in the LCQ and didnt make the main in Indy.

The thread title would be "How many races have been altered by the incessant need to line the entire track with advertisement?"

Almost every rider on the track came dangerously close to that tuff block. I'll jump all over Stewart when he crashes all on his own. But this was very poor placement, there should have been blocks closer to the corner coming out of a relatively flat turn, it could have been any of the top guys.

One of the things I really liked about the Daytona Supercross was that the entire track wasn't lined with them...still plenty of them, but there were spaces between them...so the riders could, like, re-enter the track and stuff.

Tuff Block overkill in Monster Energy AMA Supercross an FIM world Championship.

This is correct. So many little dumb crashes...

Every time I hear the crowd roar or see yellow flags I expect the cameras to show Stewy sprawled out. That's a shame, would love to see him change that part of his riding.

I can't believe how basic his crashes and mishaps have been the last couple years. Early in his career, he'd usually wad up doing a difficult obstacle. Recently, it's been basic stuff you expect to see at a local race like clipping tuff blocks or stalling the engine.

What about Izzi, Tedesco, and Wey all saying the same thing about the bike...

I find it weird that fellow riders get off on watching others crash and injure themselves.

I am pretty sure you could do a 30 Min high-lite reel on James crashing from hitting Tuff blocks or careening off the track by riding the edge. Yeah, I know we all like to give the Pros advice here, but come on man, really? I have been saying for years now, that if I were Big James, I would sit James down and tell him "Son, if I catch you riding the edge of the track one more time I am going to put this size 13 boot up your a$$"

Someone please deliver the message to Big James so he can have a talk with little James.....

BTW - It only took RV once to figure it out...

Yea the amount of criticism these couch pro's throw around in here is ridiculous. I would wager that most the jack offs that bad mouth pro riders are the type to second guess a 30' double and never made it farther than mid pack beginner. Then again this is the Internet.

Disagree completely... If the block was 3 more feet out the riders would go 2 feet 11 inches further out.

It is what it is, James just happens to find it out more than the other guys...

And really of all the ones to hit, he hit it when he was on a flat straight, it's like he wasn't concentrating! If it was in a rhythm section like when he did it on the yamaha 2 years ago getting cross rutted then ok, you're slightly off balance, fair call, but this was silly.

I remember seeing an interview back when James was riding for Kawi, where he said "Big James keeps telling me to stay away from the tuff blocks". I think it might have even been the time he crashed over the finish and came back onto the track and collected Preston, but I'm not sure....

Tuff blocks are part of what makes James' crashes so spectacular, everytime he wrecks theres and explosion of color, yellow Suzuki, redbull helmet, 7 gear and multi colored tuff blocks all flying throught the air in perfect harmony.

what about RC4 at the season opener Glen Helen? Going up Mnt St Helens, and somebody moved the tuff block a little closer to the track between practice and the first moto?

Tuff blocks continue to be a problem. The biggest problem is there ARE TOO MANY OF THEM! They aren't needed at the beginning of sections like the one James was heading into. They should pull them down off the edge of the track and put them between the lanes. Come up with a foam version of the concrete lane deals they put up during freeway construction.

This is true. I swear man, They need to come up with a tuff block that doesn't catch your foot peg and/or foot when you get too close to it. Its just downright stupid that they haven't yet.

Iv'e said it before, but they need to use a triangular tough block and some large celled, less dense foam. Its a fking joke!

Use that money they you put into the pyrotechnics and keep working on making the track better!

Triangular tuff blocks.

Hmm, now where have I heard that before.....
4/16/2013 6:04am
It's all about advertisement. It had NEVER been a safety thing.

Wait until they start digitally imposing a Monster logo on the face of triples for the aerial view, sort of like the first down line on NFL broadcasts.

Hell, wait until Monster just owns all the bikes and teams and it becomes Dirtbike Monster Jam, run in conjunction with Monster Jam. They already use the same dirt at half the rounds.

It's been a long time since it has been about the racing and the bikes and not about product placement. oh well....we still have motocross.

Or just skip a whole rhythm lane, wide open in 3rd gear. Either way.

It's amazing how many crashes and missed seasons he has had over his career, and is still second on the all time wins list.
