But both the caption and slow-pro said she was asked to bring along her bikini. If there weren't always semi naked girls in TWMX and Quad, then I'd think little about it. But how many girls in bikinis are on the TWMX site now? When is it enough?
I love FOTW. It is once a week, scantily dressed and usually fans/spectators or models working for a company at the event. We have enough women willing to take clothes off. Couldn't we do a photo shoot without going back to that?
lol!!!

They feel the same as you. Which is every bit your choice...And I am Pro choice !
I really think you need to get off of your computer and go for a ride. You either have too much time on your hands (time that could be better spent out on the track), or you are ripping your employer off by playing around on the internet all day instead of working.
I was teasing Katie when I suggested she bring her bikini, but when she replied, "Okay, let me ask my dad," I figured that if she did indeed bring it, then why not? She's obviously one of the WMA's better looking riders, and if she is confident enough to pose, that was her choice to make. I'm actually responding to this thread because Ashley Fiolek told me about it. "Some idiot is saying bad things about Katie's awesome photos," she texted me...
And if you took time to read the text that accompanied the photos (perhaps you were too busy gawking), you would have seen that I didn't shoot any of them. Me? I was out riding. It's been 21 long weeks that I've been off the bike, and I don't wanna let any track time go to waste.
And it terrifies you that I have two daughters? Introduce yourself to me at the track some time and belittle my parenting skills to my face. I dare you.
Get off your computer and go ride.

Why did you ask her to bring the bikini? Was it that important? Joke or not... Was she not fast enough to get some photos on your site without taking her clothes (mostly) off?
As for you not shooting the photos, you still published them and they are on your site. Its obvious where the responsibility lies.
And, I am not saying anything bad about Katie... only you for feeling it is necessary to portray her that way. I think it would have been enough to leave her on the bike, especially with all your talk about riding.
Oh, and I am not the one that mentioned anything about your daughters. That was someone else. I would never insinuate anything like that.
I haven't even seen the pics, but eally how bad can they be? The pics in TW always seem pretty tame to me. Now I have to go check out the pics. I never really go to TW anymore, takes forever to load, but I will wait this time.
Dirt Days are around the corner!!!
I have no issue with women posing or girls in mags. I am not some southern puritan that thinks we are all going to burn for whatever we look at. It's not like that at all.
I'm just saying, let the women racers be racers.
My avatar...Petite, with a lot of muscle. Just how I like 'em.
Belongs to AJ Waggoner, of Service Honda, it is on loan to get some airtime, and a few Pros to ride it at the Glen Helen 24 hour GP.
Nice to hear from Swap on it. He knows what his audience wants. I never wanted it to look like I was saying he, or anyone, did anything wrong. He asked an adult to do something and they all thought it was a good idea. No harm in that.
I just want to see the girls/women taken seriously as racers.

Reading the first post, then skipping all of the rest and seeing the last post to see where this ended up.
My first guess is that you are not photogenic ergo your whines about bikinis.
I won't be modeling Speedos anytime soon either but I'm sure you may or may not want to see those guys that could. (??)
As a man, could I ask you to please, in this PC world that we live in, to leave us Alpha Males one little bastion of flavor to call our own and please let us have our freakin TWMX poster in our garage and leave us the F%$^ hell alone for one minute?
Hey, gee, thanks for that moment,

* RacerX ILL always has a story on the history of the sport and incredible MX action (subscriber)
* MXA keeps the the two stroke alive (Thank you) and is not afraid to attack the people who control MX (subscriber)
* TWMX has cool tests and bikini gals. The mag is targeted towards the 16-24 year male. Its the FHM of MX mags. Lets face it: chicks and MX go together. I also didnt find the shoot of the gal distasteful.
* Dirt Rider is for the every day rider
* Dirt bike is more desert and enduro
To survive in this market you need to find a niche and SWAP found one. That said, I wouldn't let my young kid look at his mag... its targeted to young adults and adults.
I think its unfair (note: it was posted as joke later in the thread) to judge SWAP's business savvy with his parental skills.
Of course we do!
You are in fact an idiot because as you said:
Let the ones out there that want and can make it on their looks alone do whatever they want to do. But if you have someone that pours their heart into what they do, day in and day out, training and practicing for moto, let them be known for that, not for being cute in a bikini.--"--Jabjr222
You are really saying that women motocrossers should not use all of their assets to market themselves. For me the bikini does not make me want to watch womens motocross, but for others that will make them more interested. How is it exploitation when they are in a fricken bikini, you know beach wear. If you are not comfrotable with the female body then I suggest you getting a subscription to GENRE magazine and leave the bikini photos for men.
So, for the last time, because I believe everyone is capable of learning:
My problem was never with women in bikinis in magazines. NEVER. My problem was an 18 yo woman racer, being asked by a mag editor to bring out her bikini and pose for a shoot, who had to ask her dad for permission according to Swap, being portrayed in that light instead of as a racer/athlete only. Period. That's it.
In my view, it was disrespectful to her and to the other women racers.
If, for whatever reason, this leads you to believe that I don't like to look at bikini clad women, or I am gay, or I am whooped by my wife, or I want my daughter to grow up to be respected for what she does and not subjected for how she looks, fine, whatever.
Queen of Spodes, that's the kind of pics that I am talking about. Great shots.
