Best wheels for the money and where to buy?

I'm not trying to be cheap but I want to get a good deal on aftermarket wheels for my rmz 450. I know Excels are primo wheels....well the Ay60s atleast but what other wheels are tough but you don't get charged for the name? I am 215 lbs and like to jump....I'd rather pay a little extra as to avoid cheaply built wheels but on the same line I'm always looking for a good deal. Which wheels should I stay away from? Thanks. I'm going to go out on a limb and say www.dubyausa.com. Yes, they're a site supporter, but they also hand-build wheels for tons of factory and private teams, plus they're cool people.

Stock hubs and spokes with Excels can be a very affordable route if you're smart on how you go about buying some stock wheels...& you're looking at A LOT of wheels built this way when you have your TV on the SX races.

If you go with after-market spokes, be sure to learn about their thickness, weight and strength.

Look up radmfg.com on the web. They built a set of wheels for my son's Suzuki. Awesome wheels. I got a set of their hubs with Excel rims, all in black. Their oversize stainless spokes, with gold nipples. I was to lazy to lace them up, so they did it for me. They did a beautiful job. They were tight and straight as an arrow,and looked beautiful. Everything fit on them perfectly. Look down the side of the page and there's a racer discount form you can fill out. I got the colors and oversized spokes, but it's cheaper if you just go with everything silver. They gave me 20% off for racer discount. I paid around $800 for the set,front and rear. Also, they are very good to deal with. After I placed the order,they built and shipped them to me. I had them in less than 2 weeks. Great company. I would absolutely buy wheels from them again. Check them out.

What he said. Dubya built my wheels and I've had no issues whatsoever. Extremely easy to deal with and they offer great products. If you are looking for strong wheels get the DID Dirt Star STX.

Motosport Hillsboro has DNA wheelsets for $499 in all color combos, a lot of guys round here run em, seem to hold up well, I have black rims with gold hubs on my rmz.

X2, love my Rad hubs. Great deal on a fine looking product. I did red hubs with oversize spokes with red nipples, laced up in black D.I.D. dirtstars. Paid 800 bucks

i ran a set of DNA wheels and had zero problems. id be interested to see some weight comparisons on different wheel companies complete wheel sets though.

I would personally advise against DNA Wheels. My dad bought a set for his 08 CRF, and cracked the front wheel at a spot that is obviously a seem, ad the crack went straight acrossed the width of the wheel. He then repeatedly emailed DNA trying to get them to do something about it, since the wheelset was roughly 6 months old. DNA apparently didnt even think it was important enough to reply that they wouldnt do anything.

Stk or a brand of spokes that U Know have a good reputation & DON'T weigh a ton
Excel or DID rims

My revenue, in this Industry, is based on making bikes Lighter, Better & "Winners".

madGLI. We always have to replace wheels. With all the jumping and riding, you can't ride a season on oem wheels. The RADS have been the best. Although you need to get the Excel rim and the big spokes. Those Rad people are the best.

Maybe now but not 3 years ago. The spokes cracked within 20 mins during run-in. They broke where the bend stopped. Send them a mail about the problem and got the worst answer we can get. Never happend before! They send me 3 new spokes after 2 weeks. Changed them and 4 broke directly. Told them again and same idiotanswer. Gave up and buyed a "real" spokekit changed it w friend. Never gonna use those morans wheel again. They also had problems with hubs that year but heard buddie got new on warranty. Dont care. Everytime a salesman on any part says never happend before i instantly knows he's a laying a........e for sure. Buy A60 or DID racing and new spokes, then ask a specialist put it on for truing on OEM hub. Or buy Renthals most expensive ones. Badabim you got GP-stuff right there.

DNA have held up well, in my experience any rim will bend or crack with a hard hit. Stock excel on Yamaha are the worst rims I have ever seen. They must be really soft, cause the bend and flat spot like crazy.

Stay away from DNA, they are crap!

Mine are about 2 years old. They are black with red hubs on a Honda 450. The front rim (only the front, back is still fine) has faded horrible. Looks gold now. They won't warranty then. If you want your bike to look good (and you do or you wouldn't be looking at wheel sets) don't buy DNA. Bearings are garbage also. Not a good experience for me.

I might have to call bs on that.. If that wheel was black and completely faded to the bronze color, wouldn't the DNA logo on the wheel fade away? I had a set of red ones on my 250f for almost three years and mine never faded at all. It seems to be a hit and miss with those wheels. Try calling Colin at faster USA, he is located in Temecula. He has helped out a few of my friends with sets of wheels. And he can get excel's, D.i.D's or anything you want

My kid had some aftermarket wheels and hubs and lost a wheel spacer. Guess what? No longer available and stock ones wouldn't work. Best part about stock hubs is you'll pretty much always be able to get what you need. Aftermarket hubs?? Yep, those TCR hubs are not only lighter than the other a/m ones, all stock components will interchange. Gotta love it when someone makes something specific to your bike instead of some universal crap.
