Hello guys, me again, I look at my bike and it looks absolutely sweet... apart from the pipe.
I ride almost twice a week and this has caused my exhaust to rust and have some dirt on it which is stuck to it solidly. I am here to ask you guys the best product and how to apply it to my pipe to get it looking like new again, as it really is causing to be a let down to my bikes appearance. I know there has to be something out there! Hope you guys can get back to me ASAP...

sos pads work great. just wet the pipe and the pad and start scrubbing!

USED fabric softner sheets from your dryer. Works wonders!

If you can take it off do a thorough cleaning with a pressure washer as well a brown scotch brite pad....water works fine.....once you have it all clean take wd40 and a drill with a wire wheel and use the wirewheel to clean the mill scale (dark colored area around welds)off.....then go over it again with wd40 or other penetrating oil.....

I have tried the pressure washer and it doesn't remove the hard old dirt stuck on the pipe, am yet to try it with some Scotch Brite, I'll have a look around my shed for some of it and hopefully do that, also I may try the Silkolene all in one! Thanks guys, keep posting me suggestions (maybe some household products that I may already own as I can get started ASAP)! Smile

Well.....use a wire wheel and drill to get the grunge off if the pressure washer doesn't work. Use simple green as well.....pressure wash it.....simple green.....let it sit a couple minutes and pressure wash again......liquid wrench silicone spray breaks up the gunk well too....

Naval jelly from your local hardware store. It is the best. CLR is next.

The naval jelly is best for this application but CLR will do a bang up job plus it works wonders on sinks, shower stalls and toilets.

I've never heard of this CLR stuff, this will be what I will order along with some Scotch Brite and WD40 for after just in case I've ran out. Thanks reded and madmaxperformance

Someone mentioned mag wheel cleaner. If it has phosphoric acid in it, it will work good to clean up the rust. That and a red Scotch Brite pad. Once clean, oil it up good to keep it from rusting.

If you have a PPG automotive paint supply store nearby, grab a quart of DX579 metal cleaner. It dilutes with water, use latex or rubber gloves, and it works excellent. Do this with the pipe off the bike. The acid will stain zinc plated hardware. Get your red and gray scotch brite pads there too.

Nothing else comes close.

Lime away works also, but it is basically CLR in a different container.

As for the inside of the pipe, take it to an automotive shop and have it dipped in (I think) their acid tank. Cleans the inside like new.

Lime A-way. take your pipe off so you dont get any on other parts, put it in a spray bottle and watch the discolor, rust and grim disapper. You will probably have to scrub some of it depending on how bad but like others say use scotch brite pads and when done rinse and a good ol layer of WD-40

Coke to clean the rust off. If you can soak your pipe in it overnight, it works better. Have you ever seen the dirty penny in a Coke trick? Once you geti the rust off, keep it sprayed down with WD40. Wed bought the bulk liqud and applyed it with a spray bottle. Also sprayed the number plates and underside of fenders to keep mud and dirt from building up.

Seriously, try the Coke soak. You'll be suprised!

And you want the "Works" looks ----natural finish

Is there a way to remove the coating?

or should I just stick w/ the platinum coating?
