This short exchange took place at my dad's place during the 450 main, cracked me up.

"Man, Villopoto is on it."
"Yeah, but where's Stewart, why's he so far back?"
"I dunno, but he sure is sucking, he's getting gapped by everyone, I wonder what's up?"
"Well it's not a heat race."

Haha the old man still has some jokes. Funny, but sorta sad and true. For his whole career, really.

I'll post this stat again because it is relevant.

In 100 SX starts, Stewart has 45 wins and 68 podiums.

zehn, how about you make it relevant and less misleading! 45 + 68 = 113 which is > 100 Wink

45 WINS with 23 podiums, out of a a career "possible", thus far, 140 SX races. Assuming 16 races a year combined with this year partial at 12.

I may be wrong but I think the podium has 3 places....1st, 2nd, 3rd...

How about his heat race stats? Why does the guy win practice and his heat routinely, but has very limited success in the past 3 years?

Damn ya'll this was supposed to be lightly comical and playful, with a bit of serious relevance. It was an exciting race!

His heat race stats are probably off the charts.

But yeah he looked kind of flat tonight. I don't know what that was all about.

Still though, having a 45% win percentage is Rossi-esque, when Rossi was in his prime. Nothing short of amazing.

Doesn't make sense. He's third on the all time win list for Main Events.

You guys are putting too much stock into my mild critique of James Stewart. I'm not saying he's a worthless loser who can only win a heat race. I'm saying how many times has he looked like a man amongst KTM JRSX riders in the heats, then either not brought the same fire, or crashed out of main? That's all. He's been in the 250/450 game since '05, that makes this his 9th season. When you put it in those terms, it's not some big secret or huge bash on James as a dude or a racer to say that he hasn't quite lived up to his speed potential. I'm not hating or anything, but is that such blaspheme to say?

Anyway, back to some humor, how about when Ralph was talking about the dirt not being frozen like in years past. "Apparently they found a nice warm place to stick it!" Ha, that's a shot.

Cheers, vitards.

You better take a picture. Because Stewart and Reed are about to become part of MX history. Like past champs before, RC, MC, Emig, Stanton, Bayle, Johnson, Ward, Omara, Bailey, Bell, Barnett, Hannah, etc. You can only be a champ for a moment in time. The ryans next year will have more difficult time with Barcia, Tomac, etc. That's life, enjoy the racing.Evil Evil Evil

I honestly think he's trying to survive SX and get a win or two if it looks like he can get it without wadding. JMO

Good for him I say.

The stats are correct as Zehn posted them. Your way is worse than misleading it is just wrong. A win is a top five just as a win is a podium finish Just as a 7th is a top ten.

Each and every finish 1-3 is a podium, obviously only the wins are wins, so the two statistics are counted exclusive of each other.

I get what you're saying 151.

I guess what I trying to say, but failed, was that if you state both the statistics simply say James has 68 podiums, with 45 of those being WINS!

Otherwise we could do something like this... RC has 150 career WINS with 220 podiums and 315 top five combined with 432 top tens! etc ad nauseam.

I see your point too. I mean statistically those examples are correct, but...compounded like that they do lose context.
