Are they journalists or simply PR amplifiers that do nothing but repeat, with some flair, what they are told to say by the power houses in the moto industry?
Whay has no moto journo dug into the AMA decision about the penalty for RV? Why do moto journalists ignore the persistant rumors about PED's and connections to people connected to PED use in other sports?
Is it fear of being black balled and frozen out or is there simply nothing to report?

In my brief experience, this is an incredibly tiny sport. Being a moto journalist requires tons of access. I am not agreeing that these guys don't address controversey, but in general you can't go around making enemies in this sport if you want to get anywhere. You need rider access, you need pit access, you need track access, you need friends.
I've had my own experiences in this department- even gotten a rash of shit for stuff I have posted here. There is a general air of intimidation in this sport, no doubt. It is also a fringe sport with many, many fly-by-night characters in the wings.
Hell the guy that founded Supercross was a rock and roll promoter now in jail for allegedly having his competitor killed. That kind of set the tone I think. It really reminds me of another industry I have spent some time in- the music industry.
Generally I think these guys do a good job. Some journalists have a cool guy SoCal bro attitude, but others like Weege, Ping and Matthes do a good job. JT$ is another guy who is going to make a name in moto journalism.

My ears bleed generally, listening to anyone talk about moto, apart from these guys.
Considered, intelligent, interesting. These guys will expand the sport.
Listen to DMXS - in-jokes and rubbish, for example, just stupidity.

So, if I am wrong about the rule book not allowing it, please show me the rule that allows the penalty they handed out. The AMA said so it not a fucking rule.
This is in the rule book:
(taken from the rule book appendix A paragraph A1.d):
d. The Race Director may pronounce the following penalties.
• Warning
• Fine
• Lap deductions or finishing position deductions
• Time and/or point penalties
• Disqualification
• Suspension
• Probation not exceeding 12 months from the date of offence
Nothing wrong with that but a big difference between that and being a journalist.
Saying that how many sports having legit journalists covering them ?
I'm out!
But back to my point. This is not about the penalty, this is about the moto journo's ignoring and nor questioning the "I said so" defense of the penalty by the AMA.
ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ on this thread. Comes up every month or so. We're all trying our best out there, if you think you can do better then you're free to start up an "Everything Exposed in MX" website and get rich.
Pit Row
Do they know that AMA supercross have it`s own rulebook?
