Johnny Marley was the first guy I ever saw do a scrub. It was at the 2001 Red Bud National and he kept doing it over LaRocco's Leap since he wasn't jumping the whole thing. I had no idea what he was doing but it sure did look cool!

He was either on Plano Honda or Planet Honda that year on a CR125. Anyone have pics?
Scrubbing loroccos leap on a cr 125?

I think he meant to say that he wasnt jumping it and thats why he was scrubbing so hard. Marley is and was a bad mothafucka! I have some great memories of that dude shredding on a 125 2 stroke around Oklahoma tracks... Bike control for days and days!

Ha! Yeah, meant to say "...wasn't jumping the whole thing". Anyways, the kid had some good style. No doubt about it.

I remember wrenching for my buds at an arenacross in Tulsa in 2004. The start was long into a left hand 90 degree corner. My buddy yanks a fat start and has Marley on the left and planned on pushing him wide. Marley anticipated it, braked hard, came under him and stuffed him in the second apex of the corner. It was the first time I had ever seen somebody get taken out from the outside!

While we are on the subject of fast guys from Oklahoma. Do any of you Okies remember the Blackwell boys? Mark and Zach? Mark is one of my best friends ever. Both of them were fast as hell and would show up at amateur nationals and run up front. That is on the same bike that they practiced and raced on the whole year. Occasionally Baker Boys would supply a fresh bike for a big race. I remember they even shared a 450 when Mark was A and Zach B and they would hold the gate for whoever was in the second drop. Usually Zach. But they were always so humble and really had no idea of how much talent they possessed. Both of them could of gotten pro licenses and probably scored two digit numbers but they just got no exposure. They are both doing great though! Man I miss living in Oklahoma. Especially since I lived at Cooperland which is one of my all time favorite places on this earth!!!

You could probably buy Cooperland cheap now.
A bank owns it.

Two things...........
1st
Mark Blackwell
Not only badass on a bike but great person also
I was parked next to him at TMX
Racing one Saturday night
My boy on 65 and me on yz250
Mark was on a yz250 and raced expert/pro and it was so cool to hear all the 450 thumpers let off at the first turn and all you could hear was that 2 stoke singing and he never let off
Passed them all on the outside ( and won of course)
He came back to his truck and talked to my boy like he was his nephew
What a great dude
2nd
I raced hickory ridge back in like 2000?
And I'm racin in the over 30 class sitting on the line waiting for my moto to start and this guy starts talking to his buddy next to us about "remember when we raced 125sx ..........
I'm like, great I have to race these x-pros? Really???
They both lapped me and I'm real sure it was only 5 laps
Rick Kirk fast mofo

HAHA thats awesome! He is a great dude! So is the rest of the Blackwell family. I need to give him a call and let him know weve been bullshitting about him on here! We keep in touch but not nearly as much as we used to. When I lived in Oklahoma we would ride everyday and then go hit the ramps out at Cooperland. Him and his brother have so much talent but are so damn humble and that is what I always loved about them. He would give you the shirt off his back and goes out of his way for a young moto kid! How long ago was it that you saw him at TMX MX4EVR?

I do miss the coopeand days
Just don't miss all the water Guy would put down before practice
Man that dude was faster than windham in the mud

Cooper Land was my favorite track. It would be sweet if someone would open it back up that knew what they were doing. I remember the first time I went there was for a school that Guy put on. Humphrey brothers were there to show us how slow we were. Afterwards we were all talking to Bartram and he was mentioning how the upcoming weekend he was doing his first freestyle event and laughed because he didn't know any tricks. oh, how times change.

It's not always open, but you okies should hit up Sweet 16 in Muskogee.

No guy still has his place. Cooperland he sold years ago to a family out of Illinois that runs several tracks. I forget their name. Then they sold it to Kris Brown who owned it until I think 2006 or so. Kris sold it to a guy out of Arkansas who either still owns it or lost it to the bank.

Racerx930- I didnt know Zach was still riding. How did he look and was he still on that old 250F? Who was faster between the two? I gotta call Mark today to tell him happy bday and will bust his balls a little bit on getting beaten up on by lil brother if I have the opportunity to!

Ahhhhhh, my bad. Didn't know Hammock had Cooperland now.
The guy that bought it from Kris ran it into the crapper. Last I heard he'd lost Cooperland, his construction company and a lot other stuff. Which was fine. He was a huge prick with a loud mouth.

I think it's Todd Hammock's brother.
The Hammock's are good people.

Its a shame that track isnt operating anymore. Kris used to keep that place so prime! Unfortunately between me getting hurt and the economy spiraling downward it just took a tole on him mentally. I think the accident messed him up as mentally about as bad as it did me!

I live a little over a mile from Cooperland. The only thing that has changed since it closed is a fresh no trespassing sign. It looks like someone locked the gate after a race and never came back. It would whip back into shape very easily.

Rick Kirk is a truck driver now... around the 2006 time frame his son Cameron was riding intermediate class in local arenacrosses.
He told me the story about how he became a factory road racer and it is hilarious.

Zach was probably a little faster.

I can see how people could feel that way about Dale. I literally watched him flip out on a guy for talking during a riders meeting. However the guy always treated me awesome so I have no complaints. His son Hayden is on his way to being a bad ass road racer. When rich people go Bankrupt it's not the same as it would be if I went bankrupt. A week after losing the track he was paying cash for a new home and buying a new road race bike for Hayden.

JD says he has no plans on ever opening the place up. My understanding is that he has more to lose than he could ever make off the track.

I see Guy almost everyday and he's doing good. He's been doing a lot of vintage stuff the last few years.

Don't forget Chase Reed. He's being talked about in another thread. Justin Berry also. I haven't heard about him racing lately though. Oh yeah Bogle also...
