The problem for us bigger guys (40+ waist) is only a few companies actually make highend gear that fits. Been on Thor Phase gear with mixed results. Looking to move to Oneal due to the history in the sport and the way the ass of the pants is constructed.

I was sponsored by Yoko back in the early 1990's and the gear was one of the best I've ever wore. It held up way better than Thor (for the day). Dave Coupe and the gang were a good bunch of guys and would bust their balls for you.
Relax dude... it's not like I just banged your wife or something. Glover, Yoko, and some of the other stuff was just "different". I always thought the Yoko stuff looked similar in quality to AXO and Fox but had some "Euro" things that made it a little ghey (like the padded elbows).

IMO, most of today''s gear is horrid looking. Too busy for my tastes. I like the looks of some of the TLD stuff and the Fox, JT, and O'Neal throwback stuff is good looking. But it's all about personal taste. As far as quality, if you want the best it's Klim or Sinisalo. From there, I'd say Fox and JT.

I've had good luck with Fox gear their cheap stuff isn't bad and is pretty cheap.

TLD gets my vote. I still have a set of Thor Core gear from 04. It's very well made, don't know about their new stuff.

Try fly kinetik, its my favorite so far. I went from tld to fly and was impressed. I wear a size 40 or sometimes 42 jeans and the fly pants in size 40 is very roomy and comfy.

I bought new fox and shift stuff this year in 38 and 40 and its definitely cut for skinnier guys. Less waist adjustment, more snug and very low cut.

Wait until you see the 2014 One Industries......I've only seen line drawings of it but trust me, 10000% improvement over 2013 designs. A few little changes amongst the gear too.

I have always worn Fox, so I can't comment on any of the other brands. I don't really have any complaints about it and have never come up with a good reason to change. I feel the gear is comfortable, functional and durable. I did have a few sets (around 2006) that wore out quickly, and I had a few pairs of Fox boots fall apart on me, but they seem to have their quality control sorted out now. They release a wide variety of colours and designs each year, so you can always find something in their line to suit you.

i have a set of one ind and a set of tld...the one ind is really comphy and well made but its gotta be 5times heavier than the tld...i only wear it when its cold..

I have five amateur riders I support here in Wisconsin. I have all of them in ALIAS gear. They range from 14 years old to early twenties. They previously wore Thor, Fox, and One Ind. The feedback I have heard from the riders is: they love the designs, light and comfortable, they wash/clean up very well, after almost 6 months of riding the stitching is all intact, but sizing runs just a little small compared to the other gear they previously owned. Very impressed with the ALIAS gear quality and longevity.

EDIT: They love the gloves because they don't "bunch up" like some of the other brands they have ridden with.

I've worn mostly of the brands and find them to be quite similar. Every brand seems to have their "budget" stuff and then their high end stuff but to be honest, i've been happy with gear on both ends of the spectrum!

I just received my Shift Assault gear, got the blacks/white set as well as the green/black, both look amazing, feel great and were a great deal for the money. Got them from BTO

FOX IS JUNK.....I bought the black 360 gear lusk used in 2010. Looks great, leather on knees looks great.....paid a premium and the leather on both knees just shredded. This is after less than a year of wearing it every 4th weekend or so. The jersey looked nice and thick but the colors faded. If you ask me FOX and Alpinestars were the premium companies that sold out and sell China junk now. I have TLD Medusa GP gear that is two years old. It fits great and looks almost new. Twice the time on it as my fox gear had. I also bought the expensive FLY gear which is pretty awesome as well. Jersey is very thick/well made and pants and leather are top notch. I have about a year on those and they look new. The TLD and FLY gear fit great as well. Boots.....gotta go with GAERNE.....u buy Alpinestars u are buying a brand...

Don't lose sleep over this one, I got a light chuckle out of this one too. The Yoko stuff was different (regarless of quality) and seeing Vohland in that Yoko ad brought back some memories and made me laugh. The humor in your post was no different than me posting a pic of a Beiffe helmet from the same era in another thread, the only difference is that some saw the humor in it.

On-topic, I am surprised to see how many of you guys wear Fox gear. Every numb-nut out there has a Fox sticker on their car or truck and some don't even know what it means. I don't know if I would wear their stuff just for the principle of it. I understand you can't blame Fox for going as mainstream as they have, no doubt they are much more protiable, I would rather support a gear company that's primary focus is motocross though. Oakley isn't too far behind, and again, I can't blame them, but it doesn't mean that I can't be disappointed about it though.

I bought alot of Alloy gear when they had closeouts, even though they are out of business, I still have 2 jerseys and 1 pair of pants that are new, I'm still trying to wear out the stuff, very durable, and quality, too bad they closed up, I've wore out Thor and Fox lines in less than half the time.

I just bought two sets of Klim. I think there stuff is the highest quality, even if not the most mainstream in design and target marketing.

I just can't afford to buy pieces of gear quarterly or even a couple of times a year because yet again the stitching comes out of the shirt, my knee braces pierce through the pants, and my finger tips bust through the ends of gloves. This is after getting free gear for 15 years from the same company.

I've paid similar prices for Fox 360 stuff, and it hasn't been half the quality of this stuff.

For some, it might not be "flashy" enough...but to each his own, I prefer the more "plain" gear anyway so its a win/win for me.

That's what I run. I have amateur support from them and it's hands down the best gear i've ever had in all my years of racing.
