Good to see someone actually sit down and answer some questions directly to the media. For that I have gained respect for J-Law. I hope he is serious because if he gets another shot this really is it for him. Like to see him take advantage of it.
Just look at where is arch rival is now from just a few shrt years ago (Dungey). Numerous titles, big bucks, tons of fans, made respect. This could be J-Law.
The sports world is full of comeback stories, mx needs theirs. This could be it.

He's good for the sport in that he was a personality in a pack of almost faceless bland riders (to the general public).
Every sport needs a villain and he played that role extremely well for a while. It appears a bunch of things got away from him in the middle of that though and he dropped off the scene.
That being said, being the villain or bad guy doesn't matter if you're a complete non factor in a series, which he will be if he comes back this year.
The level of fitness and intensity hasn't stayed the same since he left, it's really hit another level (look at the tomac,barcia,baggett,wilson, and roczen set. That is the horizon of the 450 class and they are balls out wire to wire)
It'll be fun to watch play out but i think that he'll get pretty down on the results a few rounds in and bail. I'll be pleasantly surprised if he hangs in there and runs the whole series.

So I'd like to see it but. At the end of the video he says something like (and I'm not quoting)
At this point I am much further along then I was the last 2 years... OK people, think about that one. He had no plans to race at all the last 2 years and other than a few local harescrambles or GNCCs and a back yard track video, we wouldn't have even known that he had a bike the last 2 years. So further along than what?
And the last line... If you were ever to see me race again it would be 2013 and the little shitty grin expression... So that is pretty much COULD BE the same as saying (as he has in the past). I am done racing you have as good of a chance to see me this year as anytime in the future (cause it ain't gonna happen - but I'm still nutty enough to yank all the vitards chains and start a 10 pager).
We all love dirtbikes and riding. If this kid goes riding, then he must be training for a come back.

John Dowd (born August 10, 1965) is a professional motocross racer from Chicopee, Massachusetts. Otherwise known as "The Junk Yard Dog." John Dowd entered his first motocross (MX) race at age 20, considered old if you wish to carve out a career in the very competitive sport. John Dowd took to the demanding sport incredibly fast, turning pro by age 21. He was racing against and beating people who had been literally raised racing MX.[1]
As a result, Dowd has achieved the best results of his career later in life than his typical competitors. He holds many AMA records including oldest rider to win an AMA National (Southwick 125cc, 1998), oldest rider to win a Supercross championship (125cc West, 1998), oldest rider to win a National moto (Mt. Morris, 2000), and oldest rider to finish on the podium in an AMA National (Southwick 250cc, 2005).[2]
Dowd has been a podium contender in AMA Motocross and Supercross competition for almost 20 years. His greatest strengths are his stamina and endurance, enabling him to ride hard for the entire moto. He was considered a specialist on sand tracks. Dowd is from the New England area, renowned for its sandy tracks. He finished on the podium in 3rd place at the 2005 Southwick 250cc National just shy of his 40th birthday, aboard a privateer Suzuki RMZ450.[2] On August 30, 2009, on a rainy and muddy Saturday afternoon at the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motorcross Southwick National at Motocross 338, The Junkyard Dog had his day. Riding his Kawasaki KX450 on his home track, Dowd, 44, finished second in the 450 class Moto-2 and took 3rd overall.
