Not bad! So, how much do you really lose the older you get physically, mentally? Apparently, not that much. The sport actually began in this country about the time you guys started so maybe no one knows at what age you finally have to give it up...

57 and still addicted as well.
Just bought a 2013 CRF450- that is about my 4th "last bike I'll ever buy" lol.
Started when I was 17...moto has been the only constant in my life...keeps me motivated to stay in shape by doing cardio, lifting, and eating right.

Thanks for posting that video from the 500cc GP in 1982. I remember that race very well. It was the roughest track of the series and I was pretty sick with a badly spraned right wrist.

I think the peak of a motocrossers overall physical and mental ability is 25. After that you slowly begin to loose a little each year. By the time you're my age you're either running on stupidity or love. I guess you'd have to be mighty dumb or really love it to keep on keepen on. I hope I'm not that dumb, ha, ha.

53 addicted to moto,GP, hare scramble, enduros...I love to race it all. Oh yea I like sellin KTM's too. I always feel better when a guys beats me on a bike I sold him...lol! I love that track...kinda GPish.

I am 42 so not old yet. I just keep Thinking of Barney from near Hartford City, IN who rode till he was 84 years old. He had people over to his place to ride even on new years day snow or not. I guess I am only half way there!

Wow, 84 and still riding, that's awesome. Do you have any photos or videos of him? Here's some video of George Singler I shot last year when he was 79. Now he's 80 and has bone cancer but he's still riding just as good. He's very much alive and happy.

Look up WW ranch in JAX (new) he does some private rides for some guys....I have heard some great reviews...

I am 48 and bought my first bike just 2 years ago because I got bored watching my boys ride all the time. Even though I am always the slowest rider on the track at any given time, I learn something everytime both about riding and myself. My boys love it that I ride and work out with them and I welcome the soreness that comes from a good day of riding. The MX community we have joined here in Central Illinois is very cool, welcoming and competive and through the kids injuries, the $ spent, the early mornings etc.. we have used MX to keep our family close and at this point, I would not trade it.

That is sig worthy right there! Not that people don't kiss your ass enough on here, but thanks Gary. You have helped a whole lot of us in one way or another to become better riders over the years and it isn't often that one gets a chance to say thanks.

Barney passed away several years ago. I will find some photos. I think the local shop has some. I will go try to get copies and post them.

I know he rode on his 80th birthday for sure because I was there. Some of his good friends bought him an XR250 for his birthday and we all rode on new years eve in a foot of snow that year. He led the pack and he was not going slowly.

Talking to a local shop owner, I found that he may not have ridden when he was 84, but I know he did a year or two after that birthday new years get together, so maybe 82? Either way, impressive. He was a really great down to earth guy and a legend around these parts.

Sorry to hear that Barney passed. Did you watch that video of George Singler I included before. Barney sounds very much like George.

I don't know, maybe Reddick Vet Race but not Daytona, have to be going back home to Ohio about that same time.
