Do you have positive skills that you can contribute to a local MX track?
We are building new MX tracks in all regions of Maryland and need engineers, fence builders, heavy machinery operators, constructive construction workers that will be part of a team of people building and maintaining a track.
If this sounds good to you please visit the facebook page at www.facebook.com/mxcouncil or email your info at mxcouncil@comcast.net

No really. We need workers that will be part of a team to build MX tracks.
15 months and no reply? I guess there's not enough MX people in Maryland - we'll have to change that. I've come to ask anyone who has successfully started a track to discuss impervious surfaces with me. You'll know what that means if you have built a legal track. I'm concerned about its calculation - so if you know about this please respond.
Thanks!
Impervious surfaces sure.....build a sidewalk to the parking lot, park your canoe and read....
Impervious surfaces are mainly artificial structures—such as pavements (roads, sidewalks, driveways and parking lots) that are covered by impenetrable materials such as asphalt, concrete, brick, and stone--and rooftops. Soils compacted by urban development are also highly impervious.
Any questions?
You apparently have no clue what the OP has been, and is, up too.
Yeah, I have a question.
How many motocross tracks have you saved or built in your home state?
I'm not talking about a a jump in your parents back yard on daddy's skid loader,
how many tracks have you created or built in a legal way with government backing?
Guys constantly bitch about there being no where to ride.... get off your asses and help and YOU will have a place to ride!
Without volunteers to help him build and operate he can not open these tracks.
He already re-opened Antietam that had been closed down after operating for 40 years.

I am willing to bet they would like 2 or 3 more..... Get involved and there will be.
Here's a little update. I've got my DNR guy on the problem of right of way access. I may have found an example of a successful mx site plan that uses a % of imperviousness for a motocross track. The County is very strict, but if we can get our DNR guy to get us access, we will be in business Summer 2013.
Has T-Bone been any help? A track there will bring them a ton of business!
I was hoping to reach someone who has experience and not just calling me a douche for starting a motocross track where there was only raw land. I really hope to find someone that understand about impervious surfaces and the County permitting process. "Impervious surfaces are mainly artificial structures" = this is untrue. Even a grass field is about 49% impervious. "covered by impenetrable materials such as asphalt, concrete, brick, and stone--and rooftops" = the County thinks not, that is why they are making us jump through hoops: open dirt surfaces allow stormwater to travel faster than a grass surface, and the county compares that unfavorably to asphalt, concrete, and stone. Not my law, it's theirs. I
Compacted soils are "also highly impervious". I'm looking for someone who knows how to get around this stupid mindset.
Pit Row
heck sometimes 15 x 15 x 10 feet deep, fill it with gravel then run the downspouts to it.
Maybe the 10 grand you're talking about is for something like that.
Maybe if the site plan showed the access road with a, let's say 10 foot band, or shoulder, of mulch
or whatever they say is the most porous material, that lined the road. They might look at that.
But they're gonna want to see calculations, something from an engineer.
If you need to look at that book I recommended last year,
the one they used on the Hatfield/McCoy system motogrady@yahoo.com., I'll get it to you.
I'll give you a call hopefully tomorrow Dave. Thanks for the offer to help, everybody. I'll touch base as soon as I can!!!
