Engine Ice in oil?

What would it look like? Would it be milky like anti-freeze/water?

The reason I ask is because I recently rebuilt my 2007 CRF450 from top to bottom. After about 1 hour of ride time on the bike my engine oil level went up significantly (from middle of sight glass to above sight glass) and came out dark, almost blueish. In the past after an hour or run time the oil would be brown at worst, usually still golden. Same thing on the tranny side, although I didn't check the level, it was dark.

Any ideas what I missed in my rebuild? Water pump seal? Head Gasket? Those are really the only two things I can think of where water would leak into the motor.

Check the coolant level in the radiator ? Blue oil + low coolant level = leak into engine oil. The two areas you mentioned would be a good place to start checking things.

Did both oils look the same?
You said the tranny side was dark too; a different color than usual, or just darker than you expected in 1 hour?
The coolant was low, correct?

You bring up a good question. I was about to say "yes" about your fluid turning white, but now I am wondering.

Do us a favor and put some Engine Ice and oil in a water bottle and shake it up vigorously (I'm being serious.) I'd like to know but I don't have any Engine Ice.

Both sides do look the same. Although the engine side smells like gas, and the tranny side very sweet like coolant.

I suspect I had a double whammy with blown water pump seals and a blown head gasket. Took it all apart tonight and while it's hard to tell weather or not the water pump seals are no good, it is certain that the head gasket is junk.

I also had an alarming amount of "sediment" in my engine oil. After letting it settle for a few days the bottom of the bucket I drained the oil into was covered in non-metalic particles. Which really concerned me. My room mate pointed out that it could possible me dust particles from my coolant system that made it's way over to my engine oil due to the leaky head gasket. I hope not as that more than likely means my brass valve seats are beat, and I need to send it to my engine builder for a proper rebuilt. Sad But still, in an hour on a freshly built motor, ridden on ice, how did I end up with any dust/dirt in my engine oil?

Thanks for the ideas and suggestions!

Could the sediment simply be the result of the Engine Ice and oil meeting up? A chemical reaction? I don't buy the idea of dust from the radiator somehow being the cause. A radiator is a sealed system.

would think it still look like a milk shake but you made me curious.

some fresh Spectro and EI in the bottom of a 2 liter Coke bottle.

Shaken for a minute or two

Wow, interesting result! That looks like "sediment" to me. Looks very metalic.
