so I am getting some new RG3 triple clamps and they come with oversized bar clamps so I am going to have to buy new handle bars. I used to buy new bars every time I got a new bike cause the honda's used to come with those really nice steel bars. Since they have been puting renthols on all the new bikes now I have stuck with the stockers and not been unhappy. So since I have to get new bars I want to know what you guys think makes a good handle bar. For me and my size the stock CRF450 renthol handle bars have a good bend. Other than that I am not sure why one would spend the money on a different set of aftermarket bars. Please enlighten me!

Why do you ask opinions of people who just post on the internet?

I've been running Fatbars for a long time now. The only thing that could get me to switch would be my curiosity for the Flexx Bars. Do they develop slop in the pivots?

I have 3 years on mine and they are still tight . I did get a new set of red bumpers from the Fasstco guys at transworld dirt days at Lakewood(free) It is suppose to be a new compound . I am going to put them on this week.

One thing I don't like about the flexx bars are the weight. There pretty damn heavy compared to regular bars, but I did have a pair on my CR250 about 4 years ago because my arm pump was so bad I needed all the help I could get.

I really was not asking about brands but what it is that makes a good bar or what advantages there are over stock. So far I am guessing it is maybe vibration reduction?

I'm looking for strength, so they don't bend when I inevitably crash. So far my favorites are the old Pro Taper Easton bars. The new 1 1/2" thick Eason bars look like they should be strong enough to withstand anything short of being run over by a train, so maybe those will be on my list to look at in the future. Easton used to make bars for Pro Taper, but no longer do so; as they now sell the bars under their own name.
