I noticed in Millsaps interviews after the heat race win and the main event win that while thanking the sponsors and answering questions about the bike he never mentioned suzuki once,it was just my "Rockstar energy" team.along with other sponsors...Anybody else notice this?? BTW,after his impressive heat race win I thought he would make the podium,he just looked sooo comfortable..

Suzuki has a great 450, but apparantly they are not offering a lot of support to anyone. This reminds me of Mike Alessi and Motoconcepts last season. They didn't even run any yellow plastic for a while (I don't think they are this season either).

I talked with the team manager of the Rockstar team at the podium celebration, they have no factory support from Suzuki on the 450. I am unclear about the 250s but I would imagine its the same.

Wouldn't he still get contingency money for winning on a Suzuki though?

He would, but still not worthy of credit in my eyes. Not at that level. They have to offer support from the start if they want the glory at the races.

Yea that's true. Maybe he will get upgraded to the factory team if Stewart's knee is shot!

Dunno, seems like he has a good thing going at Rockstar, wouldn't be worth it IMO

No man, and I think thats just it. He really seems at ease there. Like they have a good atmosphere for him and his family. Racing at any level is such a mental game it's unreal really.

I talked to him at milestone a month back and asked why I always saw him practicing there and why he wouldn't go to the test track instead and he said that suzuki never gave them time to practice there and that they wanted James to test by himself at the track, so they ended up getting a deal with milestone and they built the rockstar suzuki team a test track in the back.

I guess that shows how much suzuki cares about that team.

I'm glad to see Davi and Mike's teams making a stand and not working for free. . . . and getting good results. Since MX is driven solely by marketing and advertising dollars, I wouldn't waste an inch of space on that bike on someone who isn't helping out in one way or another.

You're right. In fact, I think Rockstar Suzuki was the "official" 250 Suzuki team for the past two years. But this is 2013 so who knows. Suzuki started going to crap really fast in 2011 when they let Decoster and Harrison go.

No kidding. Talk about being mismanaged and dropping the ball. The only reason they looked good last year was because of MCR and they won't even take their phone calls. Is it arrogance or what? Get your priorities straight Suzuki!

Maybe not "Factory Racing" support, but I would think they are getting all the bikes from suzuki for free and that would seem to earn a logo somewhere..And if no free bikes from suzuki then they could get free from other manufacurers..This just doesn't make sense.

From Suzuki's PR.

"Everyone at Rockstar Energy Racing is very excited about our win at Anaheim #1,” said Rockstar Energy Racing Team Owner Bobby Hewitt, “as a non-factory-supported team and privately-funded program by myself and Rockstar, everyone at Rockstar Energy Racing is very proud of our efforts and look forward to Phoenix."

Bobby Hewitt owns the Rockstar Energy Team?

And didn't American Suzuki declare bankruptcy? I realize it was due to their lame SUV thingys, but maybe that is part of it; and why they are not receiving any support.

Point is:

Davi left JGR Yamaha, which is basically the 'factory' Yamaha team, to go ride a non-factory supported Suzuki and promptly won the 1st race of the season. It seems he didn't like that Yamaha very much either Shocked

The fact that so many teams are struggling financially and have so little money to spend is very concerning for our sport. KTM are making huge investments into their future in this sport, Honda - as always seem to have the dough to throw around, but the rest are struggling.

The fact that so many teams are riding Suzuki, even though the apparently are not getting any 'support' speaks volumes about how good the bikes are.
