Atlanta or Daytona Supercross?

Edited Date/Time 12/31/2012 7:54pm
So me and my buddy are trying to decide on which supercross race we should go to, Atlanta or Daytona? This will be my first time ever attending a supercross event so I have no idea on what to expect at either location. I would love to go to daytona for the overall experience but im afraid it will rain. Also Atlanta is a little bit closer for us. We are planning on getting pit passes also so which race would you guys suggest we attend?

Not sure how true this is as I've never been to a supercross either, but my wife just bought us tickets for Daytona and she said that there is no legitimate pit pass for daytona. She said that it is included with the track side passes and the tickets were cheaper for this race than any other. Like I said I don't know how true it is as I haven't looked it up. I am just taking her word for it..... which is kinda scary! haha

Atlanta pits are better and it's packed out every year. Daytona as a whole experience is better. Neither is a bad choice.

I don't believe the Daytona SX is a Feld event, so things may be different as far as pit passes, etc. I've never been to an SX at Daytona. But I have went to the ATL race for several years and I can say in all the years I've been going to ATL, it's never rained at the track or in the pits. lol

Plus, you're guaranteed a dry race at Atlanta.

I can't imagine the excitement of the huge Atlanta crowd. I'd pick Daytona though because I love the beach.
I think RC said that Atlanta was his favourite race because of the crowd buzz.

Pick the place you would enjoy most as an overall visit, with a SX bonus! (and hope for a close race).

ATL, Its one of, if not the best of the best. The track is always tech
the crowd is full of drunk'n southerner's, which is a spectacle in and
of its self.! Pits r huge, race is dry. Better choice for your 1st sx, imo

ATL for sure.. Crowd is sick and believe me you dont want to F with Daytona during bike week

If weather is an issue:
Daytona: who knows?
Atlanta: 72 degrees, climate controlled.

Listen to todays racerx podcast with weege, steve and JT. I think the last 20 minutes of the show are dedicated to Steve hateing Daytona. Its pretty funny. If you can only listen to a wee bit of the podcast skip to the last 20 minutes.

Daytona, you can get right up next to the track and the action, no other race can you be so close to the riders and racing. Pit party is very cool and the whole town is a party during bike week. Yes weather can be a wild card but you can make a whole day, weekend or week of motorcycle fun. We went early last year and tested street bikes, bar stools with v8's and checked out all the tons vendors and manufacturers next to the stadium. Then we hit some of the nascar stuff.

Atlanta is cool but compared to bike week action, ahhhh no.

I used to go to both and only missed Daytona a few times since 85. Daytona is better for the motorcycle experience. The stadium parking lot is a huge week long motorcycle expo and every corner is filled with action for the whole week. You can also watch lots of other racing as well. Dirt track, street bikes and GNCC to name a few. The people watching is also great. Atlanta is great too but its only racing and over with nothing else really to do. It does have indoor pits and racing but it has only rained a few times during the Daytona SX ever.

I've only missed a couple of Atlanta SX races since '78. I'd pick Daytona SX for the spectacle and uniqueness. But everyone else is right, the Ga Dome is electric for the SX race. Fulton County Stadium was better, though.

Get to Daytona early and go to the slaw wrestling at the Cabbage Patch. You'll never forget it.
