I know I posted about this months ago, but my game has finally reached release. Like anyone else crazy enough to sign up and post here, I love motocross. As a fan I've always enjoyed the side scrolling moto games and decided to have a go at it myself.
I wanted to focus on physics. The bike has a fully adjustable suspension with travel distance, spring rate and dampening. So if you find it kicking you over the bars in the whoops... you can adjust. If you want a little more rebound to get you over a bump... you can do that too.
It includes single race, circuit mode and you can race your ghost also.
And while I've been working on this a long time, I actually still enjoy playing it (we're talking many hours of testing). Certainly there's always more one can do, but I'm very pleased with the outcome and looking forward to the feedback from the community.
I hope to continue adding to it.
Those who want a free demo... I won't have one up until next week. I have some work to do there and decided to spend the holidays with my family instead. So forgive me. Thanks everyone, and hope everyone enjoys their holidays.

it also seems that the wreckers far outweigh the checkers.
SICK.
Also yes, I loved excitebike growing up and this is my version of it. I think you'll find that the physics are quite different, though.
Here is another vid. Also being played by my friend. I had something messed up with my video capture and wasn't able to get vids myself)

Cool little game there man.
Honestly... that's mostly because of the way he's playing though, I agree... It is excessive in that vid.

DEMO
So far I really like it.
The controls are a little finicky though. At one point you will be in control, then a second later the bike bucks and there is absolutely no way of saving it.
Maybe add a feature to allow phone tilt to control the bike in the air? I guess that would change the dynamic of the game then, though.
The suspension tuning/garage is a nice feature..but here's a suggestion...
a) add a help box that tells you what what each adjustment does. I'm not exactly sure what 'Distance' means, unless it's sag. All I know is I adjusted the rear distance, and tested it and the bike was uncontrollable in the air.
b) Make the adjusting scroller easier to move. I have to click and drag literally like 5x until it actually 'moves'. Also, maybe be able to type in the number you want instead of click/dragging because trying to scroll makes the numbers jump excessively, and is difficult to get it to the number range you want, especially when it comes to minor adjustments.
Easier to access the adjustment clickers, help box for tuning, and maybe a more 'relaxed' physics controller so it's easier to maneuver the bike without flipping, and the game would be a real winner, imo.
also, another suggestion, is add a feature to play a random or friend...something similar to what 'bike race' (on android market) does when playing multiplayer.
So far so good though! Thanks for a fun game! If I come up with any more suggestions, I'll let you know.
fwiw, my susp settings are
F: 36
29
40
R:78
55
42
This is nice and stable in the air, when off the gas, but when it goes through woops or a tight rythym section, it flips/crashes.
Couple Things:
*accelerate and brake have an effect on your tilt in air.
*Suspension settings have no effect on in air controls.
*Suspension distance is the travel distance.
*Leaning back accelerates the bike faster.
*Suspension setting is critical, but the default setting is a good baseline and also the one I use.
*Sometimes you have to slow down to go faster (I know my buddy just hammers gas and wonders why he crashes)
*Testing your suspension setting does not save the setting.... only once you press save it will.
Pit Row
After some time using the gas brake & lean forward/back, its actually funner that way than the tilt shift, since it has a different dynamic, feel to it than other tilt shift utilized games.
Only main gripe is still just the physics of it. Through jumps and wide spread rhythms...no problem...but the minute you go into a tight rhythm section or wheel tap a jump, you flip over the bars. Whoops are difficult too...there is no real effective method to going through them while staying upright. Leaning back too long, you flip. Go through neutral, you flip. Going slow is the only fail safe way.
Any way to fix the jittery-ness of the controls in that sense?
And any plans to make any updates and/or new tracks? Maybe one or two that have more widespread jumps & 1 lined rhythm sections so as to make it easier/funner to 'flow' through them, and not worrying about timing each section perfectly? Kind of like how the jump section of the suspension test track is.
FWIW, don't look at it as nitpicking, because I'm not! I thoroughly enjoy playing the game (I play it every day to pass slow times by). Those are just some suggestions from a non-biased guy that enjoys your app, to make a fun game even funner/better.
