Now that most all of the pieces have fallen into place for the 2013 silly season, who do you all think will be the biggest surprise / stand out rider in each of the 250 and 450 classes?

Does Barcia counts as a surprise in the 450s? He already showed his cards in the MEC ... I'm hoping Canard will get back to his usual speed / comfort level.

I don't think there will be much surprise in the 250s. Tomac, Wilson, Roczen, Baggett and Musquin to take it all ...

I agree about Weimer. The dude has skills to pay the bills. He is a hard worker, and very down to earth. He knows when to go hard, and when to hold up. Hoping for big things from him this year!

Im liking davalos on the 250 and tickle on the 450. Barcia will be boss on the 450 as well....

1: Grant and Brayton !

2: Josh Hill to get some good "surprise" results

3: Stewart being consistent will be the biggest surprise to many out there

Biggest surprises. Hmm. Probably Bogle or Durham or Musquin or that "real 338" kid whose name I can't remember. And Baggett. No, not Baggett. His starts suck.

I've been waiting for Stewart to surprise people with his consistency for two years now, so at this point even I would be surprised if he suddenly brings it. And also weeping tears of joy.

No one should be surprised if Barcia does well.* If he routinely misses the podium this season while being beaten by Dungey, then you can be surprised. (But the surprise might be better focused in Dungey's direction.)

*although a win at A1 would do the trick

The biggest surprise will be if Stewart is consistent.

My surprise pick is Josh Grant or Broc Tickle finishing in the top 7 or knocking on the top 5 door at the end of the season.

Unfortunately Tomac is going to destroy the 250 class. Zach Osborne is my surprise pick for a title as well.

Although it seems madness to say it, I would say James Stewart potentially could be the biggest surprise if he dominates.

By that I mean, knocks out 10 or 11 wins and is consistent enough in the others to scoop up the title. I think these days there's a good few people that simply wouldn't expect that from James after his last 3 dismal (by his standards) years. Tbh I wouldn't expect it either. But... it's easy to forget that he's a totally unknown quantity indoors on the Suzuki.

Only surprise (450) will be who of the top 4 win it all, all the rest will fall in place. As far as the young guns, I would be very surprised if Barcia isn't parked at A1 (time to learn a little respect).

would say Barcia but not really a surprise, so I'd have to say two for each class:

Justin Hill
Nico Izzi
Michael Byrne on the factory backed KTM
Josh Hill

Idk.....but I saw a few names I'd put Tommy Hahn on the bike over them.
Unless they're riding for next to nothing....
