Possibly picking up a 2003 cr125 for $500. Here's the story on the bike that I was told. Mom and dad bought this kid the bike and he was too scared of it to ride very much. Was put in storage for around 5 years. They sold the bike to the new seller with approx. 10-15 hours on it. This guy has rode it some but maintenance was not in his vocabulary. Its been neglected and abused but still has very low hours around 50-60. Bike will start but will die under a load. Says hes never cleaned the carb. Thinking this is just a carb issue? Should I pull the trigger on this one and bring her back to life?

50-60 hrs sucking dust will do a 2t top end in. Id say if you could get her right with 500 bucks or so, go for it.
And yes, the '03 ain't a bad scoot to play around on. Go through it & get her dialed in & have fun.Wink

Just picked this 02 up for $600, Clist find. Needs top end
redone, Havn a Gorr 134 kit put in it, and some other stuff.
Will do before and after when i get it finished.

Good luck on your purchase, sounds like a good deal. They are very
good handling bikes, just dogs compared to a yz.

This. I spent some time on a buddy's freshened up 03 Clist find. handles amazing but like MXA always says, slow bikes handle well. when you ride it you better be ready to ride, shifting, revving, momentum, ect. It made it a blast but its no four-stroke.

MXA also listed the 03 cr125 as the best year for the alum framed cr125s. There are ways to make it go faster by adjusting the airbox to gain more airflow to the engine. Of course Eric Gorr is the mastermind for these. It's a bargain at $500.

I've got an '03 CR125 that I've had for ten years, got it brand new back in fall of 2002. It's been a great bike, stone cold reliable and still modern looking compared to today's bikes, IMO. As the others have said, it's one of the slower 125's out there but the handling and balance of the bike is fantastic.

I had one for the 03 season switching from 2002 yamahas. I will tell you this it turns and handles well, looks better then the Yamaha and wears much less. With that said it is the slowest two stroke 125 I have ever ridden in my life in stock form. Mine was ported, polished and 80 over from Jms, it was then competitive. It's a great bike just needs some motor work to be fast enough. Like the guy above said its a down right turd stock. We are talking first gear in corners feathering the shit out of it haha
