CP377// Who is the fool now?

That would be Roczen,he's done well on it indoors,M&M too although they're both factory rides

I don't see him beating Tomac though, the guy is really on it lately,on a dialed in bike too,but it'll be great to see how CP gets on after being out for a while

If he's happy enough taking a local ride and riding for fun, good for him, shame we won't see him elsewhere though,Outdoors especially for me personally,I think he got way to much grief compared with Stewart on the YZ450 drama, when a Vital MX super-hero posted a picture of the number 7 on a Suzuki, some guys had a big multi-page circle jerk

It makes sense that you don't have a reason for thinking Eli can't beat Pourcel, because I don't think one exists.
I am a CP fan but I think Tomac deserves much more credit in SX: his lap times in 2012, so his raw potential in SX, is also exceptional. He is also a super fast smooth rider. There is no doubt for me that Tomac will win a SX 450 championship in the future if he finds the recipe for consistency and good starts. I think in SX he has also a bigger potential than Barcia, who is already a win contender for 2013, whereas it will be his rookie season in 450. So far I would rank Eli 2nd faster SX rider: RV2, ET17, JS7, CP377, JB51, CR22, RD5, TC41, DW15, KR94, MM25, CS25, all being win contenders with a good start.

I would already be really excited to see CP battles with Tomac in Genova and Bercy, on a new and stock 350, it would be really an amazing performance.

"So after all it got proven that it was a good decision to walk away from that Yamaha." Really? Seems James is wadding up just as much on the Suzuki as he was the Yamaha. Just an observation, but it seems to me that CP's head just isn't where it should be at his level. Best of luck to him.
JS7:
2009: some crashes, 1 title
2010: new bike, many crashes (some huge), was still in title contention 2 races before the end
2012: still the new bike, many crashes, injured
2013: not sure about the championship, but when happy and confident, he is still exceptional.

I know JS7 has a tendency to crash but look at a race in 2007, then 2009, then 2010 or 2011, and you will see the difference. It is hard to look less confortable and confident on a bike. I do not blame Yamaha either, this 450 YZF is made for taller and stronger rider, there is even no debate.

CP was also offered a few rides from Yamaha for 2013, he was interested but he admitted he cannot ride the bike. I am sure we will see more Yamaha 450 upfront with the 2014 model.

While with Kawasaki, James crashed a lot during the RC years, even landed on him once. Then after RC retired, James wasn't pushed much for a couple years, so the crashing subsided. Then the new fast crop of riders showed up, and James started crashing again.

It was never the bike, it was the competition he faced.

If you remove RD, RV, CR, TC, and JB from the mix, I'm sure James would stop crashing so much.

CP377 is one of my all time favorite riders. He showed class when he went to Canard's camp after losing the 250F title. CP377 looks at deals with this analysis: is the cost of racing greater than the benefit of racing? If so, he walks. His success in life exceeds his success on the track. I hope CP377 finds/lives his purpose.... if that means racing, so be it. If not, I wish him well.

This thread was destined to go off. I don't think he was ever seriously considering JWR, or any team for that matter. His heart hasn't been in it since transitioned to the 450s. He has been on a down hill slide then. Apparently he has enough money to do selected races, which is what he has wanted to do.

I get your point, the truth may be in between. I also remember some huge crashes with the kawi, he was extremely fast but sometimes on the ground so hard. For me it is just that he looked so much more in his confort zone with the YZ 09, he had some crashes but he was looking much more in control than usual, vs. Reed who at the time was also looking extremely smooth with RC's bike.

yep, I do not know what happened in the races (crash at the start, crash, etc), but it looks like not everything is dialed in although he finished 2nd of his heat race.

If CP 377 wants it, he can kick some ass. He’s been through a lot, and has come back. He does not seem to click with USA fans, but if he returns he can sure come back as a spoiler. The WWF has a bunch of them and they make a lot of money. If I were him, I would return to the US as a spoiler, tell the USA fans to f-off, stuff every American racer he can and hopefully win. In this crazy USA environment he will make a million as will his sponsors. He’s got nothing to lose if he comes back as the spoiler and bad guy. I believe he earned this reputation in the US, but he sure can make some money before he retires!

I know that CP isn't the most popular guy, and I get it.

Allot of you guys called him an stupid idiot and talked trash about him when he walked away from the Yamaha deal... But when the great James "Bubba" Stewart did the same, everyone said that James did a smart thing!!

So after all it got proven that it was a good decision to walk away from that Yamaha.

Now a few weeks back the trash talking started again because; that stupid French idiot talked with Jeff Ward & walked away from a good offer. But now it seems that he didn't walked away from a good offer, NO smart frenchie walked away from a train wreck! From a team that is pronounce dead today!

So again after all facts came out, it was a good decision to walk away from the Jeff Ward deal...
If what you got out of all the posts about James switching brands was that it was "a smart thing" you should really check into a better english translation program.

There were many of the posts and replies that felt it was either a mistake or that it wouldn't really matter in the long run.

I'll tell you who doesn't look foolish after a 12 place finish.

The teams that didn't wan't to pay him that money.

i agree. he just has to learn to go slower to b faster at the end. take a 2nd or 3rd if thats what u deserve; and dont crash out searching for the results that r not there that particular day.

Eli Tomac and Justin Brayton are too, so it should be a decent gauge of where his SX skills are these days (or how good a privateer KTM 350 stacks up against factory 450s)

Great call. CP will never be a threat to any US title again, he blew it two years in a row on 250's and is still paying for it.

I have just read on lebigusa that he was 3rd in the first final, with 3 laps to go, then something we do not know happened and killed his evening.

http://www.lebigusa.com/articles/brayton-lemporte-sans-gene.html

I appreciate the easy wagon after 1 bad result, there are more personal attacks than anything regarding racing. Some people should be more humble before saying that, I know it comes from education but would you appreciate that anyone insult you because you are not part of the world's elite making billion dollars? We are just guys, let us keep it modest and respectful, let us be fans and not d-bag.
