Im looking for a new brain bucket and cant decide between bell or shoei. Ive been wearing a shoei for the past 3 years and I love it. I really like the looks of the bell though. What are your thoughts on the bells?

i had a shoei for about a year and a half and after a few to many big hits bought a bell, i like them both but the shoei feels like it fits around your head a little better and i like how far down the cheek pads go. the bell feels a bit more open if you get what i mean? it doesnt seem to wrap around your head like the shoei does, but overall i'm happy with it and the magnetic cheak pads and helmet strap are awesome! hope that helps a little bit, wouldnt hurt to go and try one on.

I've wondered about Bells too, since we've had the "Arai and Shoei versus the rest" threads before. It seems like the Bells might not follow the same patterns of (cheap) production that the rest are accused of. Does anyone in the know think that's true?

I bought the bell and sent it back. Now I have shoei. The bell just did not fit me right I would say that it runs a little small. I felt clostrophobic The mouth guard felt to close to me and my goggles did not sit on me right. The bell seems better vented and the magnetic cheek pads are sick I like the shoei better. Fits amazing and way more comfy.

There is no comparison between a Bell or a shoei. At all the helmet seminars i go to (my dad works for HJC). they flat out tell us if your are serious, You buy an arai or a shoei or just don't ride. The Bell rep gave me one and I rode a half of a lap and gave it back. JUNK.

Arai or Shoei. Though you'd probably look nicer in the new Bell carbon, for your obituary photo.

Another vote for Shoei or Arai. They call them Bells because when you hit your head it feels like you're trapped in a ringing bell.

I personally have both, and I like my Bell better. I believe the pads are softer and plusher, and the range of view is better; it just overall fits better on my head than a Shoei does. I would suggest going to your local Bell retailer and trying one on though, because you never know if you might like it better!

Bell and Shoei fit totally different head forms. The Shoei is designed for an oval shaped head and the Bell is designed for a round shaped head. If a Shoei fits your head well, the Bell will fit you like shit.

I run Bell. It does run small. I recommend going to a local shop and trying each on. I thought both felt comfortable.

I recently got the Fox v4 and the fit is superb. Cheek pads are cut to fit underneath the jaw line for a more secure fit. Does make it feel very tight when you initially slide it on but once its on its all good.

The main difference in the Arai and Shoei is the energy management system. The polystyrene actually gives in a crash and slows your brain down and help avoid a double concussion. The actual foam is alot harder in all of the other helmets reducing its ability to take the energy in a crash. I've been crashing for 39 years and it'll be in arai for the rest too.

^^This is the best advice here. They fit totally different so, I agree, it all depends on the shape of your nugget. Go try one on at a local dealer and go from there.

Agree. I bought a brand new Shoei last year. Wasn't thrilled with the fit.
Bought a new moto 9 and love it. Really well ventilated too. Gave the Shoei to my son and he really likes it.
Just depends on the shape of your head.
Btw, I think the Bell is just as good as the Shoei. imho
