Opinions on racing to lose ( or not to win )

We went to a race last weekend and watched some great battles in the B classes. Atleast they were good until the last lap. Thats when the top four guys would throw in the towel. Some would pull off on the white flag and others would park on the back of the track and talk until the rest of the field would go by so they would finish last. It happened every B moto.

Apparently these guys are use to dusting the B class. Almost like they aren't B riders at all. Thats why with the current AMA Rider Advancement point system the couldn't take the chance of scoring more points. It was pretty sad in my opinion to quit like that just to try and make LL in a class you probably don't belong in. Who gets screwed the most is the poor guy running a DISTANT 5TH only to be handed the win. This poor guy now looks like he was the fastest B rider and could point out himself and be bumped to A.

Best idea I heard all day was, the rest of the class should pull in right behind them when they stop on the track. The entire class should just sit there with them until they decide to take their moto win. Or until it gets dark I guess.

Dang! that is some shady shit, but nothing really surprises me anymore. Someone needs to get it all on film and publish it everywhere to expose these guys.

Now that is a great idea Scottie! Give these guys some unwanted exposure not to mention embarrass the hell out of them

Ahhhhh sandbagging at it's finest.

I agree someone needs to video them pulling off and sitting.

I played in a flighted golf tournament one time. After day 1, you were seeded into flights based on your score. A flight was the top 10 and ties, B flight was the next 10, and C flight was the last 10. If you shot 10 strokes better on day 2, you were moved up a flight to avoid sandbagging onday 1. I got plaed in the final group of flight B on day 2 meaning me and the other 2 guys were the top 3 of that flight.

As we came into the final hole, both guys were sitting 12 strokes better than they had shot the previous day, I was sitting 8 shots better (played my tail off). Well, both of these guys proceeded to tank the final hold to reduced there score to 9 better while I made par and remained at 8 better. I should have won the flight but didn't because of this. It was obvious what they had done when you looked at their scorecards, but the tournament said it was "fair".

I despise sandbaggers.

This is nothing new, saw it first hand many times in District 11 in the 90's when it was full of up and coming fast riders. As young as they were, it was mostly the parents giving the instructions.

Last time I saw that was at a vintage race.. A couple of old fat dudes , waited at the turn before the finish for the leader to take the checkered so they did not have to do another lap..

Saw the same thing at a race last weekend also. But didnt the RPV deal say once you have raced 6 races your average could not go down. If the rider has a 15.0 or higher he can sand bag all he wants but his or hers average is stll the 15.0. I looked up one rider and his average is 15.8. Need Wardy to chime in on this one.

The funny thing is, people like this example given, know what they do
and how rediculously pathetic it really is, thats why when someone says
something, they get defensive, and try to play you down. Sadly, society is
chalked full of these people, and they procreate is what is more sad!

At least they can take pride in being the fastest pussy at Chicken Licks Raceway. Who were these fine riders? Anyone have the results sheet?

That's a different thing though. In an off road race a lap might take an hour.

Well that's easy. You only race 5 races. And to sweeten the deal dont bother finishing the second moto. Then you can still run two qualifiers and two regionals and the big show and maybe stay in B forever. Then race an unlimited amount of outlaw or non sanctioned events.

There are some privateers today that were baggin B Class at local races 5 years ago.

Referee should be able to trump finishes if he suspects sandbagging.

It happens around this time every year...I've seen some big name guys do it in the past couple of years. It's just part of the game now-a-days...
