I think it would be awesome. Yeah privateers will not make it and it would increase the budget of racing. But I think the arena would be packed. Much like a MXoN, there would be a lot of people in Europe going to that event! Imagine some EU wild cards (who probably will get beaten hard) racing 1 round! It would also increase AMA Supercross market AND it's a world championship so technically they have to leave the continent once!

If it fails then they never have to do it again! What's the loss?

Nailed it, We have our riders and you have yours, quite dreaming about it, our blogs don't dwell on your riders but your blogs fawn over ours, what's the deal? If your riders want to prove themself then they know where the GP"s are, get'r done..

We've discussed this idea on here before.

The trouble is that a European round would need to be held in a large stadium with a retractable roof. Firstly to ensure that the race could go ahead in bad weather and secondly you need enough floor space to build an AMA sized track.

But then your faced with the problem that the only stadiums with retractable roofs are round 60-80,000 capacity and I doubt you would draw a crowd of more than 20-30,000 at the very most so the stadium would look half empty. At them British Speedway GP at the Millennium Stadium in Wales they only fill about half the stadium so they cover the first set of seats to help condense the crowd, but would Supercross draw a bigger crowd than a Speedway GP?

I would love someone to try it, but Im just not sure its viable. Not to mention the logistics and expense for the teams!

Its funny that the riders think the opposite of you, generally they have to prove themselves by coming stateside to win a championship...

Europe is real Motocross, bouncing around a groomed prepped mini track is OK for a entertainment oriented society, but we are use to real manly motocross were the riders battle the elements as well as the other riders, powder puff theatrics have no place here, we still love the sport.

Probably be cheaper for the teams if you came over here to watch one.
I just got back from your country...had a great time...Friendly people in Belgium, and you speak English(more understandable than many from England)Smile

Yes I remember talking about it,Cardiff would be ideal for a Supercross, the Speedway is established and has it's GP following and pulls in nearly 50,000 and they actually cover the first row of seats to stop the shale (dirt) going everywhere,I think 20-30,000 would be about right but probably no more as it'd be a one off, would it be financially viable?

I wondered if that green netting served another purpose! I've been to watch the Somerset Rebels a few times (what a pikey track that is!) but I can't remember it spreading so far so I just presumed they did it to try and compact the crowd a bit. I went to Cardiff a few years back, the year Chris Holder won (2009?)

Haha that's true! I'm glad you liked it over here. I would love to combine New York with a Supercross. I think I just have to wait until AMA decides to do a SX round in NY ...

How does that make sense?

IF they take a round outside of the United States (well apart from Canada) It would have to head to Australia and or France, the two best Supercross rider producing countries out side of the U.S.

Probably a tad expensive to do though I guess

Teams bitch about the logistics of the Toronto round. I don't think they have much desire to go to Europe in the middle of a hectic season.

I took a long time, but Europe now have the perfect facility : a new big soccer stadium with retractable roof in Lille, France, at the border of Belgium. The location is perfect, as Lille is a big hub for Europe and is accessible from everywhere very easily with high speed train, highways or aiports. It would FOR SURE bring a huge crowd. Since the stadium has opened at the beginning of this soccer season, that's the only think i can think of when i see footage of the soccer games !

2003 Arnhem Holland was a good choices, 30.000 seat retractable roof stadium, close to the German and Belgium border, Paris 5 hours drive
tickets were cheap $15 and yet the stadium was half filled

but never say never, Who would have thought that electronic dance music would be the next big thing in the States
