I'm looking for peoples opinon on tire options. I ride moto, no trails, and I for the most part I only ride practice days but thinking about jumping back into racing. I understand changing track conditions will affect tire choice. Since I am a fair weather rider it's pretty easy to predict what I will be riding on. For the most part, the tracks I ride start out soft and then progress to hard pack. Descent ruts with little sand.

Currently I'm running a Bridgestone M404 front/rear.

Also, I'm looking for something that holds up, but without sacrificing performance. I'm happy with Bridgestone, just want to know what else is out there and why.

I just picked up an mx51 Geomax from Dunlop. I did a little research (and I mean that literally) on their line of tires, and it sounded to me like it was a good choice for all surfaces and rider ability.

You have one of the best combos available with the 403/404.

I've been using pirelli mxextra tires lately myself and have been happy with them.

mx51s hook up very well but economically the Michelin starcross are the way to go, they perform well and wear out extremely slow.

Ditto. The bridgestones are my favorite. Works excellent when the track gets worn in/ dries out by the end of the day, and wears really well. The MX51 works good, but wears out super fast.

403/404 is in my opinion the best all around combo for the conditions you describe. 603 front also works very well as does the new mid/hard Pirelli rears.
