I noticed that Ponca has only 891 entries this year. I may be mistaken, but in past years the entries have been 2500+, correct? I have not had a chance to follow Norman much yet.
Is that due to the split of the two nationals? Not so much factory support? Economy excuses?

Sad when the Oklahoma Nationals are having rider turnouts that could be similar to a local / regional rider turnout.
Kind of hard to have two "Nationals" on the same week only a few hundred miles apart.

I checked out the new ponca track a few weeks ago and after the same basic layout for the last 35 years the new layout sure looks good. Never been to the Norman track so I cant say how good or bad it is.
mx is dead here in mississippi. I remember going to am nationals and having 200 riders in one class. Those
days are long gone.
The guy in Norman blew it.

Sounds like the guy in Norman didn't want to put enough of his own skin in the game. That's too bad because you only get one shot at something like this.
Norman is what it is, you're only going to do so much with a square piece of woodless flat ground. However no one else in Oklahoma has even come close to putting out as much effort as OMC has in trying to give a quality place to ride week in and week out. With that said I think we found out that people cared more about the Ponca City national than it being the NMA national.
I suspect a lot of people elected to just skip both events this year to see how the deal played out. I definitely had conflicting feelings about it. I want OMC to do well and continue to improve, so I wanted the NMA national to do well despite my strong dislike of Ron. I also didn't want the Ponca City National to disappear as well.
Do you think both races will be back next year? My guess is no.
I believe that Ponca has a chance, but I don't think Norman has a prayer. It takes a much larger track than what's in Norman.
People just want a decent track at an event like this. Ponca wasn't bad, but the Norman track was way to short.
