So.....when I had my wreck on Memorial day I pretty much toasted my levers and a bunch of other stuff....and since I'm down for a while....I wanted to get a set of new lever setups. I have had people swear by both ASV and Sunline both. To me....they both look great and feel really good.

What are your thoughts on these if you use them? Which ones are you happy with....or did you ever have any prob;ems with either of them.

BTW....I used to use nothing but Works Connection pearch's on my bikes.....but holy crap those thing are spendy now days!

I really like my Sunline. The spinner is more of a disk so it's easier to reach up and roll. The fan blade WC and ASV setups I don't really like so much. Also Sunline is more like a stock lever instead of the shorty setup. But yes pricey is definitely the word for any of them these days.

Thanks Shawn. A friend of mine Darrel which owns and runs Absolute Powersports said the same thing you did. He said he prefers the Sunline also. I have rode a few bikes with the ASV setups and I really liked them. I guess I need to go see for first hand of what the Sunlines feel like on a bike and go from there.

I had ASV. Before, WC..... WC felt better than ASV in my opinion. I currently have ARC, feel on ARC is amazing. You will pay for it though.

I just picked up an RM 250 w/ ASV's and my current and last RMZ's have sunline levers.....

---- I just noticed the last time I rode: switching back from bike to bike on a sandy track, that the ASV's feel clunky/ weird compared to my Sunlines. Just my opinion.

I am currently running an ASV F3 setup. I was previously using Sunline. To be honest, even though I like the ASV look and function, the "feel" of it is a tad on the vague side. I think that is a compromise with all folding levers though. I'm constantly tweaking to find that right feel. Good luck with your search and/or choice.

WC elite perch all day long, great product, not flexible ,but put the perch on snug , not to tight. End of problems. All parts are replaceable and great customer service.

ASV's are so bulky!

The best is ARC which is the same lever as most sunline and gytr!!!

I like my Sunline SL-4 and V1. The lever isn't huge like the ASV lever and the action on the clutch is extra smooth. I'm not a hardcore clutch user so I don't really adjust on the fly but I can see how the action on the Sunline wheel has got to be tough to beat. It is ball bearing smooth.

Plus, the Sunlines rotate up and down in a crash, in addition to away from the bar. I can see that being a big advantage. I still run stock ones on my bike, but if I ever need to replace, I'm going with Sunline.

asv's seem to get a lot of slop in them after a while as well. WC elite as mentioned above is second to none. Pro-taper has a nice setup now real similar to the WC elite, at about half the money, but I haven't tried that one.

Crap....I still haven't decided on which ones to get. Hadn't seen the pro taper ones yet. I do dig the WC levers.....but damn , I don't know if they are worth paying dang near twice as much compared to a sunline set or ASV set. WC "loves" their own products.....and they sure do put a heavy price tag on them.

you coudl always do the old school trick and just drill holes in your levers so they break when you crash.

back in the day i used to keep an extra set of levers in the toolbox and just drill the existing ones.

i will say this though..any folding lever is worth it IMO, especially if you're on the ground alot of course...

I'm kind of digging the folding levers myself , which is one of the reasons I was going to veer away from the WC setups. My stock perch rotates as well , which is basically what the WC does.....just the WC perch is about 10X. I loved my older WC Clutch perch.....but that was before I tried the ASV folding lever setups. Then with the sunlines , they fold in two different directions which is kind of cool.

I did however find out tonight.....that all 3 brand ( when you buy the complete perch set ups ) all cost about 4150.00 per side.....so I'll be out $300.00 no matter which one I go with.

I tried out a full set of the ASV's again tonight....and the damn things are pretty friggin' smooth. The guy said he had about 4 months on them and I didn't feel any "notchyness" in them. I kind of like the looks of them a little better than the Sunlines....

Christ....I haven't back peddled this hard over anything MX unless I was buying a damn bike!

The ASV's are extremely smooth, but as I stated previously - they are a tad "vague" feeling before you find the sweet spot. That could just be part of my cable adjustment though. IMO they do look better than the Sunline, especially the "shorty" levers - gotta love anodization yo....LOL

All good products but the old saying goes , ya get what ya pay for. Jeffro whats the review on the rmz you were gonna buy?
6/22/2012 8:56pm
WC is the biggest waste of money, they dont go up and down like the sunlines, and i dont even think they go forward like the asv's

since i first put sunline mdx levers on my yz250 i really have enjoyed them and they're worth every cent (although they're pretty expensive)

i have put them on my cr125 as well, just the levers though, not the whole perch because there's no need, just swapped the levers out and you're done, very easy and they work great, i've taken quite a few spills and they either just spin on the bar or they move like they're supposed to (up, down, front) it just breaks away and then you put it right back, then once you get home just make sure to clean the lever pivot points if there is any dirt in there and you're good to go again

OK guys....thanks for all the advice here. I took into consideration the Sunlines , ASV and WC.....and today I made my choice and ordered up the full ASV sets! I had originally made the call and went back and forth on the Sunline and ASV setups because I wanted a pivot system......and WC couldn't give me that. Then.....to me , they both feel comfortable as heck.....so I narrowed it down to the looks , and I think the ASV's look a little better....so that is what I went with. I got the full ASV lever / perch sets with the Anodized Red perch and clamps with the black levers.

MXB2 : Story goes like this. When i first rode that bike when it was only about 2 hrs old and bone stock , I fell in love with it. Since he has a little less than 30 hrs and every hop up known to man on it.....I "Didn't" like it near as much. In fact....he had the suspension all fucked up and the bike felt really awkward. I figured I could just tweak it here and there and get her working again....but then , he said , I 'm taking off every piece of bling off this thing that will fit on my new 250F. Which ened up being about 75% of the stuff! he wanted $6500.00 for it........when I could have just gone to Motosports hillsboro and picked up a brand new 2011 KXF450 for $6449!

I liked the bike.....but I'll take new over used any day.....and besides I would of had to put money into the damn thing anyways to set it up for me. This is why I hate buying used bikes.......once they are past the new stage and people start messing with them.....it screws up the whole guideline / base I need to work off of. I like my bikes stock to begin with , then build them from there. Not have to go in reverse and try to figure out what the hell he did. Bottom line....to much money for a used bike and I wasn't getting half the cool shit anyways!

I tried the sunlines that pivot up, down and out on my 2011kx450 and hated them, I brake with my middle finger while keeping my index finger on the throttle and it rubs on my knuckle. Bought the arc's and love them. I've had the asv's in the past and the pivot points get wallowed out pretty bad if you crash a lot. The bike has been down a bunch of times with the arc's and they still feel tight with a 140 hours on them.

My asv's got pretty sloppy, and I don't really crash that often (knock on wood). But I did have them for a few years, so maybe they just finally wore out. ASV did send a buddy of mine a "repair" kit to freshen his up that were still under warranty, so I thought that was pretty cool of them. That being said, I still feel the WC setup is the best quality lever/perch available if you don't drop your bike or wreck a lot.

I think we've kicked this doggy enough, but anyway hope all turns out well.

No favoritism here...LOL..You can't say the ASV's aren't at least pretty.

I have the asv's and haven't had anything else other than stock. I do like them, but 210 is right when he says you have to keep playing with them to keep "your feel". I ride to strokes so I always use a shit ton of clutch. Adjusting it back to my feel is just one of things i do in my pre race ritual or before i ride. It is nice how they don't break, which is why i got them. A buddy of mine got the sunlines for his 10' yz and for some reason it kept locking up his front brake. He still has it on his clutch, but has stock for front brake now and took him a while to trust it again. It was like after he pulled it in, even though the lever was released it wouldn't let the master cylinder realease. All we did was take it off and put stock back and it worked fine. Weird, but true....

WC elite perch system, stock front brake lever. Keep an extra lever for each. keep the perches snug not to tight and bingo no problems, WC better quality. Your welcome lol.

OK.....things changed for me here. I ended up getting the full ASV set up and they sure did look pretty. After playing around with them and setting them up on my bike.....I didn't care for the fit and finish on how these things went together. On the clutch side , where the hot start hooks up....for the life of me I don't understand why they would put it where they did.

If you look at 210mx's setup about.....it looked exactly like mine. The stock hot start lever was in front and on top....where the ASV setup puts it on the bottom and in the back. It put the cable at a weird position. My other complaint were the holes where the lead bead from the cable attaches. The holes on the ASV setup had to be at least 30% bigger than my beads........I could twist the bead inside the hole.

I dunno......the whole setup seemed a little flimsy for me.....so I am handing them back to the dealer today and am picking up a full WC setup for the clutch. I decided to use a Sunline break-away lever for the front brake as well.

So MXB2........you were right.....I should have gone with the WC in the first place. I used them for year in the past.....I don't know why I didn't use them this time around.

I have ran both and prefer the ASV's look great and the spinner is easy to hit while in the air, (06 CRF450) clutches sucks balls after 2 laps gotta hit the adjuster. anyways they come in regular and shorty. I don't worry about breaking them I have hand guards (lots of rocks on the track out here in AZ) so I can't commit on how tough they are.
