Yet, no american made bikes! Cannondale was a bit of a joke but good job, good effort. Not the topic at hand, just a side note.
I've been following a few different mx series worldwide - AMA, the GP's, Canadian nationals, and even a little of Australian mx. Following the AMA series most heavily, I've been most surprised at how many high-caliber foreign racers end up here each year, leaving their home series to contest the best racing in existence. In contrast, I don't think any of our top racers ever end up racing anywhere else, making the USA the land of motocross as we know it.
Now for some numbers - national points scored by foreign racers so far this year 2012:
Brett Metcalfe 291pts - Australia
Ken Roczen 180pts - Germany
Marvin Musquin 176pts - France
Chad Reed 128pts - Australia
Michael Byrne 63pts - Australia
Gareth Swanepoel 61pts - South Africa
Martin Davalos 40pts - Ecuador
Cody Mackie 14pts - Australia
Cole Thompson 10pts - Canada
Matt Moss 7pts - Australia ??
Evgeny Mikhaylov 5pts - Russia
Dean Wilson 0pts - Canada
We could list some big names from the past, but these are current. Who is racing professionally throughout the world that is from the US? Probably not big names is my guess.

Are you saying that if you included the combined AMA points this year from US riders it would be less? I have to guess there's a reason you didn't include them in the standings?

Oh, and fair play to Osbourne, I like his style and find myself rooting for him over many others (including Brits) because he is a damn hard rider in our Nationals.

But think about this. If you race in the US, everyone speaks English, Food is all governed one government. Food quality is more consistent between chains of restaurants and grocery stores All states have restaurants and bars that have ice and cold beer. No passports going between states, Food, gas, hotels, flights are cheap, taxes are low,
Another reason, you may disagree with this, but if you have an AMA championship, you know you are the fastest in the world, World champ in GPs means you are top 5 in the AMA.
Our top riders do leave the US to ride in Europe and race YOUR tracks. It is called MXON, and they win year after year. They don't need to leave the comfort of the US to prove anything else. The MXON is to show which country is best, and that would be the US.
You have the biggest rider pool, the biggest pile of money put into it and the most advanced infrastructure build around it. US is the country that put's the most into the sport aswell. Big suprise they all come here and are able to win 1 event a year huh?
We all know it's thanks to the great Belgian, Roger DeCoster, that US still holds the big ole cup! (yes that last one is for fishing)

The former sounds plausable and logic to some I'm sure,maybe not to yourself as the mindset doesn't expand to it being even a possibiliy
The latter hasn't happened and may not happen,unless it does it's very difficult to predict,in fact it's actually,technically impossible to do so,
just some open minded thinking,I'm sure some can may see

If you never been outside the US then you have nothing to compare with... Have you ever been to Spain, France, Italy, ...
Al those countries have very good food! America is know about there fried food!
