I watched one of the greatest shows about Johnny Carson on PBS the other night, it freakin blew me away. Being an insomniac, im a huge late night TV watcher, and it is just incredible how Johnny touched peoples lives.
Hopefully it is replayed again, or archived on the net, just an awesome tribute to a true TV icon. It was called "Johnny Carson: American Masters" 2hrs long and it covered pretty much his whole career.
I am also a Leno fan, but damn this made me lose a ton of respect for him. Jay's agent and/or group leaked out a fake press deal that said Johnny was quitting and Jay was going to take over the show. To make matters worse, at the end NBC never even asked Johnny for advice on who should take on the show after he retired.
Anyway, im rambling...cant sleep.
Here is a clip about it, and the page is HERE Catch it if you can....

Carson: Do you do anything special for Arnie for good luck before a tournament?
Mrs. Palmer: I kiss his balls.
Carson: I'll bet that makes his putter stand up!
I remember driving when I heard he had passed, I had to pull off at the next ramp and sat for 10 minutes.
The best there will ever be.
The show on PBS was awesome, and also heartbreaking, made me laugh, and tear up....
I gotta say, i have been mighty impressed with how Jimmy Fallon has done. The night his show debuted i made a thread here about how rocky of a start it was, but he figured it out pretty quick and it blows me away how talented of a guy he is, his music impressions are spot on and incredible.
If I got lucky enough to still be in "position" acting like I was sleeping when it started, in order to not foil my plan, I would watch Carson with one eye closed. I would be laying on my side facing the TV, and would close my one eye so if my Mom peeked over to see if I was sleeping she would see that eye closed and think I was....
Little did she know my other eye was open, and watching a true legend of TV.
