I loved the American Ninja movies when I was a kid.

The coverage was good........just glad I set the dvr to record the show after the race or I would have got to watch 30 mins of cycling and then only the 250f moto.

It just doesn't seem right that a sport this exciting can't be seen live. We've come a long way, but we have a long way to go.

I dont see how we have come a long way. 15 years ago we had a 1 week delay of all 4 motos (complete) on ESPN2. Now we live in an age with 100 cable channels (15-20 sports channels) and we cant seem to have any decent coverage.

You never saw 4 complete motos on ESPN2. Those were 2 hour broadcasts. A 1 hour broadcast typically consists of 43 minutes of actual content and 17 minutes of commercials. That equates to 86 minutes of moto on those 2 hour ESPN broadcasts.

A moto is typically 35 minutes, times 4 that equals 140 minutes of just bikes on track. Add in intros, track maps, pit reports, and podium interveiwes and you are way over what can be shown in a 2 hour block. At best with those ESPN2 shows you were getting about 18-20 minutes of each moto.

Yeah, and they were always pushed back or cut short due to spelling bee or girls softball. But to even know when the race would be on tv I would dig through the Sunday paper and scan through the TV guide and hi-light everything moto. Then I had to program my VCR manually. But the worst part? Having the will power to stay one issue behind in Cycle News to avoid spoilers.
How you remember it isn't always how it was.

How many people do you think would pay $5-$10 per round for live internet of both motos, immediately archived, with pre and post race shows? I know I would.

Why be eager to pay for what 99% of everyone else gets for free. Free and live as well.

UFC and boxing can be PPV, what else is even on that list?

I don't get how a replay of a cycling race shown hours before on the same network, live, can supersede a show that has not come on live or tape delayed once yet. I mean this channel has been shit for years (the networks that came before it) and they don't seem to be doing much to change that image. I just hope they do. Here's to hoping the Olympics on this network change all that.
