Had some of these spread out in different posts and just took the final finished shiny stage pics so thought i'd put this together...

My advice...don't start with a rat like I did...

The bike looks great!

I have a couple of NOS left cushion rod protectors if you are interested in one.

What year are the forks from and did you have to change the steering stemout?

Nice. I love how you restored the bike, addressed it's only two problem areas (small 38mm forks and single leading shoe front brake) while still retaining the original appearance.

Just curious why you went with the 83 Honda forks and front wheel vs the 83 Suzuki and keep it pure ?

PS. the bike looks sweet , I wish I still had mine. Definitely one of the best bikes I ever owned.
That's me on mine in my Avatar.

The 1983 Suzuki forks have the yellow plastic coating that is next to impossible to get off and they dont work much better than the 82 RM forks the honda or Yamaha forks are way better and fox forks are the ticket. As good as the full floater is you need great forks to match the rear.A stock pipe ,put some vents in the airbox covers or get a Roost Factory single sided airbox and its a vintage racer that cant be beat.

Suzuki forks are harder to find too. I have been collecting parts to do an upgrade on my 79 rm250. YZ465 43's and the dls wheel slip right in too.

Breakin her in... Ran well for the most part...couple small issues and needs some jetting work. Under full throttle she's blubbering as if the choke was on...any ideas? I'm thinking too large on the Main? I did go with a yz250 petcock which is supplying more fuel than stock. Suspension was unbevlieably plush yet resisted any bottoming. Bike was glued to the track.

It would be trick to run the cartridge internals from the 87 in the 83 forks. What track is that where the pics are taken? I'm glad to see you riding it not just restoring it to its glory and tucking it away.Dont forget to put lock tite on the rear fender bolts!
I remember those bikes were so fast when they came out. i dig the pipe. How much is a pipe like that?
I have a 82 125 that I'd love to tighten up

Track is clubmx in long island. The pipe was about $250. Wanted a stock but they are extremely hard to find and usually in bad shape if you do. Heard the dg pipe killed the top end so went with this, was not easy to get on and took some massaging in the header area. Thanks
