Ivan Tedesco is riding the PC 250F today to see about a possible ride this summer. #mx #sx

Let me preface my comment by saying that I am a nobody and I don't know anything about anything.

However, why would Tedesco want to drop down to the 250F class after several years away from outdoor MX? The dude won titles and has serious skill but he has not been racing outdoor MX, and he will be coming off of (ANOTHER) injury coming into Hangtown. What if he gets smoked by the likes of Tomac and some of the other yooung guns? I know, it's a stretch but it could happen ;-)
What would that do to his confidence and perception that potential sponsors have of him?

Nobody would argue how much of a badass Windham is and we all know how his 250F experiment went. I don't want to see the same thing happen to Ivan......in case he does poorly.

Just seems too risky to me. Am I nuts?

its not "IF" he gets smoked by tomac...he will. I think IT9 will be hard pressed for a top 10 in either class. good starter, stronger fader. if he stays healthy he will get stronger/faster and have a shot at top 5...but he has hard time/bad luck at getting hurt.

IT9 would get smoked in the 250 MX class. Too many fast riders.

Sounds like a case of wanting to rekindle past success.

Has he been calling old girlfriends from Homeskool too?

I don't know....I remember a few years back when KDub raced lites. He got smoked also. I'm sure Ivan wants to take advantage of the opportunity (if true) and I can't blame him. Some people ride smaller bikes better than the bigger bikes and vice versa. I think his contract is up with H&H after SX this year anyways. Maybe he's feeling like taking the summers off is hurting him also for supercross. Can't kick a man for trying............

I think its been said before. Mitch Payton isn't stupid, if he thinks Ivan can get the job done for what he wants for a fill in then lets see what happens. Bunch of negative nancy's...

A rider like Tedesco deserves to be doing the outdoor series on a good bike and if it happens to work out that way it will only make the 250s more interesting to watch.

This is bs in my opinion, should not be able to do so. It is bad enough guys like Langston and Brown were able to do this, it needs to be stopped.

wait, JS has had a rough last couple years, I mean he hasnt won a title since 2009. I think he should be able to ride a 125 or 250f...

How rediculous does that sound?? Exactly...

if you think tomac isn't coming into these nationals as a title contender...you don't watch much supercross. his fastest laps are on lap 15. fitness is not in questions, the bikes are not in question (2 titles this year). I don't even like honda's and hes my title favorite.

I don't think there are any 'move up' rules like in Lites Supercross
Anyways, payout is a fraction of 450 class and I'm sure if this is even true Mitch is only paying him peanuts also.

The ridiculous part is that they have this lame rule in the first place. If James wants to ride the 250 class than I say go for it. It is AMA Pro Racing. This whole feeder idea is BS. They are all pros right??? Why does some slower guy get to make a living because he hasn't pointed out?

Other than a very short time in the late 80's there has never been a point out rule for 250 MX. Micky Dymond got bumped out of the class after winning the 125 title in 1986 & 87 but it never came into play with another rider and was quickly dropped from the rulebook.

I don't get the negativity about Tedesco. If Mitch needs guys and IT has no ride for the summer I see absolutely nothing wrong about Ivan racing a 250. It is a full on AMA national championship not a regional series like 250 SX is.

I don't like this because it just opens the door for more opportunities like this... Like it or not, the class is more or less a "stepping stone" for the "bigs"...sure if they had an entry level class like a 125 or 250 class devoted to younger riders and then two major classes (250f and 450f) I would have no problem, but as it is now I don't think he or anyone else should be able to do this.

To be honest, it doesnt bother me that much with Tedesco because I think he would have a hard time cracking the top 10. Reference Windham's results at Unadilla a few years ago. But, by allowing it to happen they are just opening the door for more cases of this which could hurt the younger riders.

He did the same last year, won a couple and didn't seemed to have that same fire that he had in sx. I actually expected more considering it was his 2nd mx season and doing so well the year before. If rattray and Wilson are healthy, I think you'll see a repeat of last season with pro circuit 1, 2, & 3 every weekend with Marvin & ken (both aren't familiar with most of the tracks) making a few trips to the podium. Hope bogle kills it as well

The last time IT had a REALLY good year he rode for Mitch.

I get the feeling Ivan is remembering this; and, I'll bet Mitch is, too.

He shouldn't be allowed to drop back down. He's a two time 250 SX champion and one time 250 MX champion. He has pointed out of 250 SX and won a 250 MX championship. Him, Rattray, and Sipes shouldn't be in that class anymore. Just my opinion of course.

Shouldn't be allowed to race a $200,000.00 bike in the premier moneybike class? This is where the 125 needs to re-enter the picture.
