I'm not trying to stir any drama, just a curiosity because someone asked in another thread. With the possibility of no RV(I make no claims of anything other than we know nothing) or Canard for the MXdN, who would your choices be?
I would go with:
MX1: Dungey
MX2: Tomac
MX3: Barcia

Let's see how the Nationals go and who is heathy enough for the MXdN. Winning a 250 title indoors may have nothing to do with being fast enough outdoors.

USA - I'd love to see stewart/ barcia/ RV- but stewarts not likely to show up outdoors, RV is a question mark with the supposed injury- anybodys guess at this time of year! WAAAAAAAAY too early to be picking des nations teams!

MX1 Searle good sand rider and done well on the 450 last year.
MX2 Wilson one of the best 250f riders in the world out doors.
MX3 Simpson or Nicholls. Simpson is the more natural 450 rider but if Jake continues running up top 5 in mx2 and practices on his 350 in Belgium all the time then possibly him.

If RV is hurt then Barcia for the MX3 and Dungey to MX1 and Tomac for MX2.

MX3 Paulin with Pourcel as a back up. France is by far USA's biggest threat in years. Good sand riders who are all fast.
Here's my pick for the podium this year.
1st France if France can have good starts on the day and stay injury free. I think that they have potentially top 3 in every class.
2nd USA I think RV will hold his own and be close for the overall in MX1. But I think that deep sand will hurt the USA a bit more than they think. Although Roger Decoster will get them training in it as soon as he can. If they get a good solid 2-3 weeks in deep Floridian sand near the end of the nationals and 2 weeks prep in Belgium then I would put USA first. The riders are skilled enough to win on any track, but the sand there is so different and takes time to learn and setup the bike on.
3rd GBR Got some good sand riders in there but to score 3 top 5's in all classes will be hard. That is what it will take though to be close to the above 2.
4th AUS, third rider will find it hard in Lommel to crack the top 10 regardless of class. Reed and Metcalfe will do just fine.

Be a good bet for podium/win
Essentially what my point was is this season has been full of injuries to 450 riders. There is a real possibility that we will only have 1 of our top riders. Would you choose a 2nd tier 450 rider for MX3 or one of our top 250 riders.

Don't think Simpson is fast enough. Deano is unlikely to be able to ride and I don't think he is much of a sand rider anyway. But we still we need him for future years so the ACU better sort it out.

Who knows, if Dungey is healthy then hes defiantly in, RV if healthy. Then I have no idea in the 250's.
And it's going to be a blast see Jeffrey H. smoke everyone on a 250F! It's shame that he's the only real threat in team Netherlands...

But since RV is out this means the Americans are the underdogs because the Europeans now have a huge advantage of riding on a home track and everyone knows that Americans cannot ride sand tracks.The Euros will be expected to win so no big deal, so if the American win it will be a triple job well done.

this team is usually selected on how riders are doing in their respective championships. barcia has done nothing outdoors. his regional sx titles are irrelevant to MXdN and outdoors. on top of that he is the worst representation for america as shown in bercy late 2011 and houston just a month ago.

to replace Reed best bet would be Marmont for consistency or see how the Nationals go with Reardon, Bopping and Co.

Tommy Searle - MX1 (Obvious reasons).
Dean Wilson - MX2 (If not Dean then Max Anstie - MA's running a very fast pace so far this year and is good in the sand).
Jake Nicholls - MX3 (Shaun can be fast too but Jake seems to be really flying these days. The 350 isn't a problem for him).
USA
Ryan Dungey - MX1 (No brainer, he has to be there).
Zach Osborne - MX2 (Zach knows the circuit and should be up to top form in time. Otherwise Tomac or Baggett ).
Justin Barcia - MX3 (With RV gone there is no reason on earth to leave this guy out, he's fast and can ride the 450).

Gautier Paulin - MX1 (Or Pourcel of course).
Marvin Musquin - MX2
Steven Frossard - MX3 (Difficult to find a French guy who really loves the sand but I think SF is the best one).
