RV will be fast at Lommel and should be a contender. Hard to know who will win. Can Herlings beat him again? of course. RV could beat him too... it's motocross.

Is Mccread spinning it when he says Herlings beat Villopoto in one moto, or are you spinning it by saying he had to beat him in both races for it to count?

saying someone beat another rider and it was in 1 moto but not for the overall is like saying your team won the game because the had the lead after the first half, period, quater, etc.....It's almost as bad as using qualifying as a barometer....I would expect someone with as much MX knowledge to understand that...but then again, you have to take it for where it came from...lol

So if a rider wins a race, technically he hasn't won it?

Villopoto won the overall, but Herlings beat Villopoto in one race. Its simply a question over the interpretation of Mccreads wording.

I think the chances are pretty big that Herlings will go 1-1 @ Lommel ... You would be a fool to think otherwise.

Who won the MX1 class overall at the '11 MxoN?

Herlings beat RV in moto 1, which is 1/2 of the race......RV beat him by almost a min in moto 2 and won the O/A. Herlings got 3rd O/A in that class......to say "...herlings already beaten Villopoto in the Des Nations...." is a stretch and misleading but I am sure you understand where it was coming from so......

The imressive part , is that not only Herlings go 1-1 , his laptime was a 1:54,, and Cairoli was a 1:57 , so he will be very hard to beat @ Lommel,, IMO, thats still 5 mons and alot of races away yet, they all have to not get injured etc., Sideways Whistling

Wrong conclusion, the track was 'fresh', groomed and new for the MX2. When the MX1 raced, the track was really rough and it started to rain (much more then in MX2)

As with Roczen last year, we'll have to wait and see what happens when he isn't in a class won by 15-16 years olds.

Comparing lap times from different moto's is freaking dumb - track changes alot on a sand track!

Alternatively, you could search your desolate soul and give a talented 17 year old Dutch kid just a slither of credit?

It won't matter because Team USA will find an excuse to not race the MXdN in 2012... similar to Lierop a few years ago!

Nah they'll race, and be bloody fast too I bet!

I think making bold statements about what Herlings or even Cairoli might do at this stage are silly until we've all seen what Villopoto and Dungey/Stewart can do in the deep stuff.

What is it with euros and Lommel? It's a sand track, we get it, we have them in the U.S. too.Quit acting like it was built by satanist martyrs who will swallow riders from the gates of hell who aren't named Herling.

Saying they won't win is one thing, but to say the 7 time defending champions won't podium is just laughable. It's the roughest sand track that the US will race on all year, but to say that Villopoto and Dungey aren't good in the sand is just funny. A good rider is a good rider. They have their better surfaces and what not, but their ability doesn't drop off all that significantly on a different surface.

Spin it however you like, its irrelevant to the OP (who's caught a few here),Herlings was absolutely incredible today,Ive seen MX for 30-40 years and never seen anyone ride sand like that,if DC said he'd be a handful last year when he saw him there,it'd be brave to bet against him cleaning up at Lommel

Again, twist it to your individual agenda regarding Moto wins,Overall wins etc you could even say championships,RD won a SX race ths year but RV won overall, does that mean RD hasn't beaten RV??

Herlings has beaten RV in a heads up race from startgate to the chequered flag,RV got a bad start but there you go,he didn't crash out, fair play to Herlings, that was more hardpack or regular Moto, but Lommel should favour him more, however anything can happen, the MXdN is a unique event

I did actually but in my mind a slither of credit doesn't quite =smoking RV like a cheap cigar

I'm just not ready to heap it on him like you guys did with Anstie, Roczen, and who ever else was set to dominate.

Roczen may get it done but not because he's a "world" champion but because he's facing much tougher competition now and getting better because of it. The time he spent getting beat in the U.S. as an amateur helped him win that title and now getting beat as a pro will help him win an AMA title.

Wow, all of this national pride is pretty...uh...GAY. We are adults here, no? Why do we act like our country's performance in a motocross race really means anything? It doesn't amount to a hill of beans. You guys really need to look into what's important in life. And really, the Anti-American sentiment is kinda sickening. What have we as a nation ever done to any of you other than help? Lommel, Lommel, Lommel, it is a motocross track. You people revere it like it's sacred ground. I hope the U.S.A. goes and gets it's ass kicked. Then you people will have something to celebrate. Can we move on if you guys are given your chance to gloat and rub our noses in it?
