What is "media" blasting? Is that different to sand blasting, or soda blasting?

same principal as sand or soda blasting except a coated silica or seed shells for example

from what i understand is that it removes the paint and creates microscopic dents to cover up the dirt..someone correct me if im wrong

ive used soda blasting but wasnt particularly impressed by it, but i think it had more to do with my compressor than the actual baking soda
Microscopic dents? Well they're all abrasives so they have to leave behind some sort of microscopic deformation. Beads are typically reused in a cabinet. Other medias may not be. It definitely not "covering up dirt"!! It's stripping away stuff. Takes carbon on a fouled plug really nice. Try it!

BTW: CAN YOU SEE THE PICS!?!?

Where did you get those frame guards? I'm about to polish my CR125 up and I don't want black scuffs all over it again. Thanks

I'm guessing you need to use another source to upload from. I was bummed to see them gone because I was going to show my nephew what it means to rebuild a bike.

Oh well, I actually think it's better that it's dirty. It was almost too pretty to get dirty, but now that it is, it sort of looks better.

Beautiful. I've been looking for a CR ever since you posted these pics. I finally found an 03 that I'm probably going to pick up this weekend. Expect some PM's from me.

I regret to announce that i have sold this bike to my buddy, where it sits in his living room as part of the furniture.. On the plus side in 20 years it will still look the exact same way.. even after a hard couple rides it cleaned up pretty good.. heres a pic from his living room Sad

Awesome build, even if it is sitting in a guys living room. I am in the process of doing a very similar build when I stumbled on the you-tube vid and then this site, I just picked up a well used but fairly clean 2006 CR250R and I am setting it up for moto. I was wondering exactly which keihin carb you were running, where I could pick one up, and what you thought of the performance vs. the stock mikuni. My bike runs fairly well now with a v-force reed, fmf fatty and silencer, and the mikuni with the JD jetting specs but I am looking at the keihin and some custom cylinder/head work as the capper to complete my race motor.

Any thoughts or must do's with this engine besides the carb or cylinder/head work?
