Bring back the KJSC!!

That way there could be some other good racing going on. That was an awesome program!

That would have been good for this year since RV wrapped up the title already in this years Survivor-cross Series....

Anyhow, just an and idea.

I would rather they pay the large amount of extortion money to MX Sports for a 6 round 125cc outdoor national championship instead. It would take place on the off weekends of a 6 round WMA series. I know, I know, sounds like a good idea! Wonder why no one else thought of it until now. They wouldn't have to provide bikes , gear, scholarships, eighteen wheelers or a full staff. Put up a hundred grand for the championship fund with 50 grand going to the champ. They would be heroes for resurrecting a huge part of US Moto history that the AMA kicked square in the nuts and to the curb. Bring back the 125's!! I'll sponsor the holeshot award.Smile

How would that work for the big five? I'm sure Honda, Suzuki, and Kawasaki would be against it especially if they would get TV Coverage. Can you imagine people going to the dealership to go buy a 125cc and they tell them they haven't been made for several years. The head honchos at Yamaha and KTM would gladly push for it.

Think about it this way, the craigslist prices for 2 strokes would go up and that would mean less finds for restorations Wink

Honda doesn't make 50's, 65's or 85's either, so why would they care? Kawasaki and Suzuki abandoned the class because the AMA shit in the bed. Husky, KTM, TM and Yamaha can carry this one. Just make sure to impose that same 5 year rule so Honda can't bring stuff out of their moth ball fleet.Smile

And I already have plenty of restoration projects lined up so I have purposely not been buying anything else. Resto projects have already gotten a good bit out of whack from a price standpoint. Some of it has even gone bizarro crazy pricewise...Pinch

And the excuses as to why not will be ?
let me start the ball rolling here

"Even if we are missing the Woman's race from this event, you would think there was time, but ..... "

1. Highpoint is a really long track so those 2 extra laps at the end just mean it's not possible,

2. It would not be fair to the Manufacturers who have already increased the size of their race teams for the 6 round WMx Event,

3, If we did that and it kicked ass and everyone loved it, It wouid really create problems.. ( Oops I said that out loud, Sorry ).

Not my best writing, I am sure their are better ones out there.

I have a question newman why do u have to change the topic to another 125 topic on only the first response?Wink

And to stay on topic i would love to see the KJSC! I did anaheim 1 in 2001! I had blake bagget and nick paluzzi (along with some other top ams) it was a great experience. Sadly if i remember right the reason for it ending was how much feld was charging per round to do it... I could be wrong though.

I can't see how they can have time to do that and also have the dumbass tough block marathon sprint and throw competition. I'm wondering if they are going to take the winners from each round and have a grand national dumbass tough block marathon sprint and throw competition champion come Vegas time? I hear rumors of it happening. I hope so because then we will finally know who the dumbass tough block marathon sprint and throw competition champion really is.

I remember when they used to run the ktm junior supercross during the intermission. The crowd always loved it and went crazy for any kid that would double the triples! I for one was a big fan of that and would love to see them bring it back. Watching bystanders load tuff blocks in the back of a pickup is less amusing. I'd rather watch someone quilting than watch another one of those dumb tuff block competitions.

Everyone that knew anything about the kjsc was pissed when they started demanding that the kids NOT JUMP any type of double. That was the best part of it and it sucks without it. Maybe an 85 super mini demo race? That would be fun to see each week, as in "These are the riders you will soon see here in the 250f class"

We should list all current pros that did the KJSC

Nick Paluzzi 45
Eli Tomac 17
Daniel Blair (I believe the very first winner) 125
Blake Baggett 12
Mike Alessi ???? 800
Killy Rusk 84

Who else?

We did the Seattle round in 2006 and they didn't mandate that. Not sure when that came to be, if it ever did.

I don't think the 85 Super Mini would be a great idea because there is serious risk of injury on a Supercross track and although the KTM 50 is a powerful machine most of the kids are still just kids and happy to be there and wouldn't be pushing themselves hard enough to sustain a major injury in the event of a crash.

I can't think of one accident off the top of my head that caused any real injury during the KJSC...put Superminis out there and there will be a new one each week.

The KJSC was great. I loved it when I first saw it in 97 and was so happy that my son got selected in 2006 and had the opportunity to participate, even though the main event got rained out. It was the best $5,000 I've ever spent because the memories are priceless.

Supercross pretty much sucks ass these days. No Semis is one thing, the daytime quals being gone.....I pretty much hate going...but I just can't force myself to skip it. I can't wait until the day comes when I no longer give a fuck about Supercross because there is nothing Super about it anymore.

Did you have to pay 5000 dollars for you and your son to do it??

They began saying no doubles after one kid did it at Anaheim

Oh, no....sorry if it was misleading.

The $5,000 came from round trip business class airfare for 3 from Atlanta to Seattle, rental car, 4 nights at teh Red Lion on Fifth Avenue and then just random spending. I can't remember how much we had to pay the KJSC folks, but it was only $250 or less for the experience and he walked away with new riding gear a new helmet, and memories that will last forever.

It was amazing. I let my son's mother be the "Mechanic" for it and it tickled her pink! Here is a Slideshow that I made for it. I tried to include every kid in it and it rained out the main so I only had limited things to work with.

My son was #13

I found out awhile ago that one of my X's now has a son who rode in one of the KJSC's. Such a small world!

I always thought Mike Alessi was the very first winner of the KJSC. I could be wrong but I thought all these years that he was. I remember when he turned pro and started his first SX that it was a topic of discussion.

i raced the KJSC in 03 at the pontiac silverdome. one of the coolest experiences i have ever had. I would rather see young racers with the opportunity of a lifetime at intermission instead of the toyota hay bale stackers....
