Davey Coombs has reported that the AMA has suspended Jason Lawrence indefinitely, so he will not be racing this weekend at Red Bud, and possibly not for the rest of the 2008 season. In addition, the $25,000 fine that was posted as probable to Lawrence after the Freestone National for a rental car incident has now been collected and donated to the Asterisk Mobile Medical unit.

Racer X Online has learned that Boost Mobile/Yamaha of Troy's Jason Lawrence spent Friday night in a local jail here in Red Bud, Michigan, following an incident yesterday afternoon.

Lawrence has been released on bail, but the AMA is expected to bar him from racing this weekend, and further, his team is considering terminating his contract.

How many people think still think he is young and needs a chance? The kid is a punk and has had enough chances, I say troy and Yamaha should cut their loses and move on.

That sucks !!! seems he would have learned, or they would have put an adviser with him.

All that talent and now he screwed himself if this is true.

Lawrence is a good rider, but he's not better than Stroupe, Metcalf, Izzy, Dungey, Canard or Weimer - and he's damn sure not good enough to be worth the trouble he causes. There are a lot of good MX2 riders and Lawrence isn't THAT good.

Ricky Carmichael said it best on DMXS, something along the lines of "we've worked too hard to earn respect, sponsors, and exposure for some jackass to come in and treat everyone with such disrespect." The fines, suspensions, and contract termination seems appropriate given the warnings and continued inappropriate behavior. There are too many other fast riders out there that would treat a YOT ride with more respect and appreciation.

it kinda depends, sometimes they're ok... while other times the huge rent-a-cop squad they hire are hard headed and power hungry, looking for anyone to throw cuffs on and sit down for their pretend interrogation. It would be interesting to hear a first hand account of what happened.

If he were a celebrity or a politician, he could check himself into drug rehab. Everything would be fine after rehab.

I dont think anyone will be able to justify this. JLaw is most likely done and its sad to see him waste his talent.

I think Ger said jail would have been good for him after the rental car incident. I couldnt agree more.

He got into a fight and beat somene up at the track, he is now no longer with Team YoT / Boost Mobile. That was the last straw.
