i'm probably big on the "bike" excuse, but it was pretty clear that PC had the 250s dialed last year, no?

they ran 1-3 almost the entire summer- and i'm not buying that wilson rattray and baggett are all better than the rest of the 250 field. fuck that.

that said, i don't think barcia will be "the man" in the near future. I really think that the sport is growing towards are dam at the top of the heap- where we'll have a pretty steady 1-5 rider pool that can win every week. (that is, after poto gets done just bashing the field at will)
wasnt barcia struggling to get top 5s last year? after holeshotting like every other moto? wasnt bagget 75% of the time like 3 seconds a lap faster than the second fastest guy? wasnt bagget wilson and rattray 10 or 12 rounds the three fastest guys? kinda hard to say that they werent better than the rest of the field?

I can forsee Barcia battling up front, and then probably taking himself and whoever he is battling with out. The beneficiary there? Whoever is in 3rd at the time.

What will help him a lot are his starts. If he keeps starting the way he has this year on the 450, he'll be in the championship hunt. Villopoto still has him beat speed wise though. He'll need a year or two on the 450 before he is a true championship contender.

No disrespect to TC, just wish he had not pushed to the point of going out, TC is as talented as any of the top riders in the world.

Stanton has been Barcia's mentor this season. 6-Times rocks. Barcia is da shit right now, reminds me a mix of Bradshaw, Hannah, RJ. Love to watch him ride.

trey? a downfall? the only downfall is gawd effing him over with luck. being the man to bring back factory honda is alot to swallow, but who else is it gonna be? to be honest i cant believe how damn fast he is on the 450, and how comfortable he looks when he "pushes" it. dude throws the crf around like nobody.

No longer 250 Bam Bam boy, Justin Barcia will move into the 450 class and beat some ass down....

I suspect a death match with RV1, but he will win the war of attrition.

Dungey's got injuries and is too precise to bang with JB, Chad Reed, banged up and older, JS7...nope. Millsaps, Metcalf, Cole Seely....? Nope.

Some may say Tomac, Wilson, or Bagget will give him a run.... No. JB is peaking and for the next few years there will be no challengers. Get used to it.

The flaw in your argument is self-stated:

JB is peaking (which I don't be necessarily agree with).

But, your inability to recognize that plenty of other riders are still excelling and coming into their own...

Tomac
Mookie
Wharton
Anderson
Durham
Roczen
Wilson
Begget
Etc, etc, etc...

Also, he ( Bam Bam) has a pretty good case of James Stewart Syndrome: When your good luck seems to last forever ...then...

Wham!

So, yup, like others have said, "We'll see"

Barcia is gonna kill it on the big bikes. Believing "you can" is 70% of the battle and he believes he can. I think Rattray will be the man outdoors but Barcia definitely needs to put in a good outdoor season.

As they were saying on the PulpMX show the other night, Honda have spent way too much on Barcia to let him go now.

Doubt at your own risk, he's startin' to figure this thing out and I was there at Unadilla watching Barcia hold Dungey back from the "Championship", last summer... ( ya'll remember that...? )

Like I said, I expect some battles with RV, but he is no doubt, the next guy.....
were talking about about the same dungey that watched barcia and pals leaves the line at southwick without even having a motorcycle, only to fly out in front of barica right before being lapped and coming back to 7th...in the rain and mud?

im not a fanboy of either , i think both are still gonna get spanked by RV1 for a few more seasons, i just wanna make sure where talking about the same guy Smile

Barcia has the speed... hopefully doing some part-time 450 class stuff will lessen the first year in the big bikes learning curve... I think podiums for sure though. At least a couple.

Would be nice to see JB race Seattle or SLC on the 450. It would answer a lot of questions in this thread and certainly set the tone for what will be coming next year.

Barcia cant even run the top three or four guys speed in the nationals in the lites class.

How can he go from that, to the title contender in the 450s?

Who else is there though? Kawasaki will be focusing on trying to get Dean whilst keeping Villopoto. Suzuki is poor and not factory. JGR is paying enough for Stew. KTM is fine with Dung.

brianf: He already showed he can hang with Dung and Poto outdoors. And according to the experts on this site, he sucks outdoors.

Barcia is on the steady rise...no where near his peak.......he has yet to build his base!

He is dominating the series! The riders you list are a group of up and downs. Barcia never missed a podium last year and now he is 5 wins and a third.

This kid doesnn't give a fuck who's name is on a jersey, never has.

Honda and the blonde momma ticket taker from Walden Mx got 6 time involved to take this thing from Villopoto in 2014.

The list of guy's with forks in them is 30 deep....stamp it.

I think Wilson has more natural speed. Bagget was a lot faster at Daytona. Tomac is a year younger than Barcia and is even in development. In my opinion, Barcia's good rides on the 450 were partially a product of no pressure syndrome. I think he is going to have a lot of trouble with Wilson, Bagget, and Tomac outdoors.

And you're talking take down RV and Dungey?
3/29/2012 1:12am
HAHAHAAAA, dream on. he is a very fast kid, radical and stylish when he wants to be and I am a massive fan - he is having his moment in the 250's and he damn well deserves it. Yeah he had a couple of very good races on the 450 but come on, saying he will beat RV etc in "the war of attrition" OMG dude get off the crack - JB got rinsed last year in the outdoors and unless something drastic happens this year he will get rinsed again.

JB19 above makes a very good point.

exactly!! barcia for the des nations threads, and barcia is going to beat villipoto are a little premature being that the last few outdoor seasons he's competed in he's been absolutely smoked by dungey, pourcel, trey, wilson, baggett, rattray, tomac and now he also has bogle, roczen and musquin to contend with this year!

Barcia is a very good supercross rider- but yet to prove himself outdoors- he's certainly not been anything like dominant outdoors anyway! I hope he can step it up outdoors to compete with the front runners in that class, but he's going to have to make vast improvements over last year to do it! I can see rattray, baggett, wilson, tomac, musquin, roczen and tomac beating him outdoors this summer- that class is the most stacked its ever been in my opinion! Maybe he will move up for a couple of races again when he cant keep the pace in the 250f class same as last year!

Tomac & Tomac you say?

I like Barcia's confidence, he's in the zone right now. A bit like Pourcel when he was winning the Regional SX rounds, he knows he has everyone else in the class covered and that must be such a satisfying position to be in. Barcia is a phenominally talented rider but I tend to agree with everyone else, that East Coast SX is one thing, Outdoors will be another.

Barcia's going to be bringing a lot of "baggage" with him into the 450 class. Riders like Chad Reed, RV or Stewart wont take any of his rough riding, slam passing techniques. They will punt him into the cheap seats further than a tee shirt cannon.

Hell, he's got to get through Bercy SX this year in one piece, as French guys like Arranda will be looking to return the "love!"

Justin's a great prospect, as yet unproven outdoors, but wish he'd quit with the "Bam Bam Slam Slam" passing moves as he's a better rider and shouldn't need to resort to those tactic's!

thats another good point- how many riders will be looking for payback at some point?! This will be justins 4th outdoor season won't it? and yet he has never been anywhere near championship contention in any of his outdoor championships- and people are comparing him to RV and dungey?!
3/29/2012 7:50am
I seem to remember barcia saying last year during outdoors that he was overriding the 250f. Which was causing him to wreck more often. I dont know that could have been an excuse but it sure seemed like when he hopped on the 450 that he was riding smoother and wasn't crashing at all. I think he is a really good outdoor rider. He won the 2nd moto at southwick and didnt the 1st moto because of a bike failure. He won southwick his rookie season too. Southwick is supposedly the most difficult outdoor race. If you can ride in sand you can ride in anything.
