Say what you want but I kind of feel bad for Cooper.I honestly doubt that he knew the bike was modded. When my son and I go to the races we know what our bikes are because we buy them and build them our selves. Cooper probably shows up and just rides the bikes that they hand him.

No way could a kid tell if he was riding a fully modded engine or a stocker. He just rides whatever they tell him to. Surrrrre.

When I saw your name on this thread right after I posted, I was like "oh no he didn't" and fully expected you to become my newest stalker that follows me around arguing with EVERYTHING I post. If I post "gravity exists" there are people on here that would argue with me just because it is coming from me.

Glad to see you're NOT one of those people. haha. Cheerful

Nah, it's all good man. Forums are all about talking trash and voicing your opinion, just because you disagree with someone on one subject doesn't mean they don't have a good opinion on something else. There's a lot here that don't understand that.

He was protested in the 250B stock class for several items related to the motor. I heard the webb/star people would not tear down the motor or let the guy designated by the AMA inspect or measure anything. They want to send the motor or bike to the ama??? I also heard that a visual inspection revealed modifications to the AP and that there may have been a different FCR float bowl on the bike. The results show he was disqualified from the class. I heard he may have been suspended as well.

It seems odd that they would not want a qualified motor builder to see inside a "stock" motor. If the bike is legal, they have nothing to loose by having it inspected and everything to gain. I could see if it was a mod bike they may not want someone measuring their cam profiles, but there should be no secrets inside a stock motor.
So will they still have to send the motor into the AMA? (Not like it would matter now) Or does the DQ from the visual inspection make it a done deal?

No its official. If you cant prove right there that the motor is stock you are disqualified. I am correct on this right?

As for the stock class, a lot of us have been through the BS of the stock class...

I agree with allowing internal suspension since stock suspension could be a safety hazard to a 135lb kid on a 450...

Anything after that needs to stay stock....

So what's cooper supposed to do? Pull a fat holey, look around and notice he's checking out like he's done in most of his races his entire life and go "hang on this bike doesn't feel right it's to fast, I better pull in and tell my employer that I'm not riding it because I think possibly this things not completely stock". That's asking a lot of any racer when the blood starts pumping, let alone expecting a 15 yr old kid who only just got his first big break in the industry to call out his employer like that.

I'd consider him a victim in this, yes he should be dq'd if the bikes not stock but I don't think he should be crucified, doubt he was even there when the go fast cam and head were bolted on.

No bullshit guys..... One of my buddies kids got dq'd in the stock class for running grip tape on the bike! It was at a ll qualifier this was 10 years ago when 125's were still relevant... Super fast kid but had to run the grip tape bec he was so short and I mean REALLY REALLY small
Remember when stroupe had his stock title pulled at loretta's for packing a piece of foam behind the rear brake pedal? I don't remember if it was racer x or playground that ran a picture of his yz80 zoomed in on the piece of foam and then a picture of him crying his eyes out right next to it

Cooper is a very respectable kid. I have a very hard time believing he would cheat. Too bad he will have to live with this- as you can see, people are already questioning his character over it. People have no problem ripping someone online they have never met and know nothing about. It sucks that they would do that to a very respected kid who works his ass off. Especially grown adults who do it just for fun.

I had a funny feeling when he signed with Star/Valli. I'll say that much.

Can't be pissed at a kid for that.
X2

I remember his first race paddling his legs down the straights on a PW50 and watching the races when not on the track. His transition from Cobra's to KX65's was anything but smooth. He would go out, fall, bust his butt, get right back on (sometimes with frustration tears) and worked hard to get it right. Adam has worked very hard (so has Christi and Allen) to get where he is. Very proud of him.

IMHO. That is a carb bike and I'm guessing what was done helped the bike not bog (a safety issue) and made no performance difference. The 12 YZ250F carb is 39mm and has a cool taper already and it does have a bog problem. If Star altered the bore than shame on them. We'll have to wait and see exactly what was done.

I can see why he would... I was there when Webb made his debut on the 250 at ECMX LLQ last February. He and Joey were at each others throats the entire day but Cooper beat him 2 out of 3 classes. If Cooper Webb has the mindset to use a near factory bike in a stock class, who says he hasn't/won't use illegal parts in the other classes? Results from races can't be changed now, but it definitely calls his tangles with Joey into question along with any other rider that has had a close race with him.

All in all its terrible for Cooper Webb's image and I'm sure his sponsors won't look at him the same either. Not saying they'll drop him but I'm sure some of them will hesitate to re-up with him when his contract is up.

Just to set the record straight, Joey didn't race Millcreek due to an injury and is not in even in Coops class. Coop did win the Elizabeth City qualifier in school boy 2 over Joey after some good battles in both motos, but Joey won all 4 motos in B stock and mod.

Wasn't really pointing out a Joey vs. Coop rivalry just that Coop's closer finishes can be called into question.

Thanks for clearing me up on the ECMX Qualifier, I should have raced in the same class that day but was sick that weekend and I must have mistaken the two to be in 2 or 3 classes together. Another thanks for being intelligent and looking up the facts versus guys that post without a clue. Wink

It might not hurt that that's big Joe your talking to...And sponsors not re-signing him? Are you retarded or do you just act like this on the internet? Cooper never would have touched the bike, neither would of his dad. He is on a FACTORY amateur team. They have his bikes where he starts them and rides to the line, that is it. HIS MECHANIC EMPLOYED BY THE TEAM is the only person who works on his motorcycle, that's it. And a near factory bike in the stock class? He was DQed for a different size float in his carb?
3/18/2012 5:30pm
Break the rules, get disqualified. Makes sense to me, I think the promoters did exactly what should be done. I don't hold a float bowl modification against cooper though, especially since he likely didn't even know it was against the rules, and I think he is on the only 250 left with a carb? Bog is no joke on those bikes.

Are all the EFI bikes in the stock class running stock ignition and fuel maps? or could they have been modified? Impossible to tell that by looking at the bike from the outside. Is it allowed?

Well according to bullpen it a "fully modded" bike.LOL

Bullpen I'm just giving you a hard time. I really doubt that his bike was fully modded (head, cam, compression ect.) Because I'm sure he could tell the difference between the two but I bet his bike just had a couple of "cheater" parts on it. Its still wrong no doubt because stock means stock .

Sounds like you are condoning unilateral decisions to alter the rules which I think is wrong. There is a proper way to deal with a safety issue without breaking the rules. A bogging YZ250f is dangerous but, using carb parts from another bike to make the bike not bog and thus run better is performance enhancing and violates the rules even if it relates to safety. If a legal stock yz250f is unsafe without the carb mods, the thing to do is not race the stock class or get the AMA to allow the carb mods through proper methods. Would it have been legal to run Del West valves in the 2006 YZ250f because it had valve problems, different valve seats in some of the older Honda 250f’s, billet hubs on early ktm 65’s or Cobra's?(I seem to remember Bud getting the AMA to allow upgraded wheels as a safety issue)

Star or whoever knew or should have known the mods they made to the bike were not legal; they are a factory amateur team. The rules are not that complicated. Makes me wonder what else Star may have done to the bike that was not discovered because they apparently would not let it be inspected.

I don’t know the Webbs and have no reason to think they would knowingly run illegal bikes. Watching Cooper ride, he doesn’t need illegal mods to win. However, under the AMA rules, the rider is ultimately responsible for his people and his equipment.

Don, he was protested for 6-7 things and Star wouldn't let them tear the motor down. thats where it gets a little fishy, in my opinion.

Stock means stock. Jeff Alessi got DQ'd from the LL's stock class for removing the backfire screen from his air filter.

I stand by my statement in regards to the carb. IMHO there was no performance improvement.
