Noticed in the New RacerHead that Davi had a hydrolic clutch while James had the standard setup.

Havent seen it in other photos this year, has anyone else?

Hydro clutches seem to be the rage this year. Like full-floating rotors in '09.

GuyB had a pic of it in pit bits from way back at Anaheim1. It is a pretty nifty little deal:

Dan Worley's doing these SDI hydraulic clutches, like the one found on Davi Millsaps' bike

Hydro clutch setups are overrated.

Welcome to the 90s. KTM has had them on stock bikes for 14 years.

Your right, they have. Although it is still a KTM that is over weight, over priced, and the hydraulic clutch setup that they offer is different than the one I purchased. The lever on the aftermarket Magura bends the opposite way as well as has a much better adjustment.

I'm interested to see the difference between Magura, and the SDI. Also they are not true Hydraulic clutches. Try are just the push rod and the real clutches are what factory Honda uses. I'm also wondering if they are putting that on the 13.

KTM is the only overweight / overpriced bike out there ... LOL.

KTM's hydraulic clutch is much better than any aftermarket clutches I've seen. The KTM's slave cylinder pushes directly on the rod - improves the feel. The aftermarket set-ups still use the eccentric lobe to push on the rod, which makes them a little more vague.

Sorry GuyB...Just now noticed it.

I hadn't really seen Davi's bike, more of Stewart's bike.

Either way, if it is that much better, why doesn't James doesn't run it?

A hydraulic clutch is self adjusting so it is hard to know how much clutch has been worn out until it starts slipping.
With a cable operated clutch you can tell how much clutch is wearing by how often you have to adjust the lever.
It could be as simple as JS7 just preferring the feel of the cable operated clutch, it is a very important part of getting a good start.

One of the guys, RC or Emig I think said at Daytona that the hydro clutch didn't allow the rider to feel the clutch going away like the cable type since the slack adjustment is automatically done with the hydro. Makes sense.

Get lost. A new 450 is already 12k after tax here.

Oh, that's right. The OEMs owe you a cheap bike. Complain about the tax to run your social programs, not OEMs that are producing a better product then chartging you for it.

Wish I had the money to buy one for my bike. I've never ridden any bike with a hydro clutch.
