but that Honda has thrown more people on the ground with injuries than the Yammie. I was watching races from last year and the Yamaha guys are finishing about the same spot this year on different brands.

Everyone bags on the Yamaha but 99.9% of them don't have the skill to ride it to even half it's potential...

Well there are a lot more people that ride Honda's so of corse there are going to be injuries. And many of the honda injuries are not because of the bike. The Honda is a great bike never discount a Honda, it whoops the shit out of a yamaha, and yes I have ridddn both.

Oooh, never discount a Honda because JCRF217 says so!

Sure, Honda's are generally good bikes but I can think of more than a few model years I'd not only discount but AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!

Believe it or not I blame JS7 for part of this bad reputation...his opinion is(or was) very important in this media.
He complained and blamed the bike for everything....very unfair.
It is a very good bike and many people do very ,very good on it...besides you can go the whole year without spending big bucks on maintaining it....it is very dependable.
I am a Honda man myself but I have to hand it to the Yamaha...I have spent way more in maintenance than my Yamaha buddies.

Sooo...who dictates how it's set up, James or JGR. If James sets the bike up like shit, loses and then blames the bike it gives Yamaha bad press. Now everyone hates Stewart because he can't set up the bike? That's some fucked logic.

JGR's setup and the Yamaha YZ450F on it's own are not the same thing. If James can't setup a bike, it's not the bikes fault.

James has crashed the shit out of every color he's ever ridden. He, and his fans, are simply having a tough time accepting the fact that he's no longer the fastest guy, much less the dominate one. Period.

I have ridden the 2010 450 and own a CRF 450.. I like the small feeling of the YZ but the power of the CRF was amazing.. If you watch the geometry of the yami on the track it just looks like the rear end loads up and springs the rider forward.. Just my .02

i've ridden them and can't stand them.

my buddy has a 2010 with exhaust and aftermarket suspension, if he wanted to trade me straight across for my bone stock 2007 CRF, i would tell him to EAD.

I ride a yz450 and I LOVE IT! im only a intermediate rider so I know I can honestly say that I too am not riding the bike to its full potential. But it can do way more than I could put it through. Its been a rad bike for me. Ive ridden a CRF, KXF and I think this is best so far. BTW take a look on CL and see what bike has the MOST postings for sale........CRF's

I'm a longstanding James Stewart fan. I could give a rats ass he's no longer the fastest guy nor the most dominant. I enjoy watching him ride and I certainly enjoy watching the Ryan's excel this year.

There is a gross misconception that us Stewart fans have our panties in a wad about his struggles. He's trying and that's all I can ask for in a professional motocross racer. I don't lose sleep over the fact James is not #1 and not dominating and I'm sure the rest of the Stewart fans can say the same.

As for the Yamaha - I can only trust that Stewart knows how to set up a bike and knows what he wants out of it and has been struggling to feel comfortable on the bike. Whether it's the bike, JGR or his head is irrelevant. Chances are it's all of the above. I know full well what it's like to struggle with a bike set-up and a large part of that certainly comes down to confidence. He has a dent in his confidence, for sure. It doesn't make me dislike him and you can't rationally place full blame on the bike for his poor performance. Although, at their level, there are hundreds of variables that go into feeling comfortable and confident on a bike. Most of these guys can tell if their levers are a few mm out of place. If the entire package is just "off," a pro like James is going to struggle.

I do not think the Yamaha is the problem, as Davi Milsaps looks very good on it, I just think JS7's riding style and movement on the bike is the issue and they do not fit well.... So I guess the only way we will find out is if he changes to JGR Suzuki next year like they should have done this year!! I will also say the new Dungey KTM has some flaws...especially through whoops lol but it seemed to have got alot better last weekend... time will tell!!!

It was interesting to hear Ferry's take on it on Matthes' review of Atlanta. Worth going to Pulp or ITunes and running it if you want a fairly neutral take on it.

I've got 3 of them and love them. No complaints whether I was riding single track, desert, sx, motocross, or fmx. Yeah, it feels a bit heavier and bigger than a CRF, and it doesn't have the CRF's motor, but I thought the overall stability and handling of it outweighed the fact that I couldn't make it down a fast whooped straight away on a honda without feeling like I was gonna swap out and die. These were both bone stock off the showroom floor bikes with nothing done in the way of setting them up, and I am sure you can with either one.

was interested to hear his thoughts after you posted this.

16:30 on stewart. 20:00 about the bike. if anyone wants to listen. ferry put it as nicely as he could, that the bike is good, 'but not a rider friendly bike'.

The new yamaha is like a dirty slut, most people would stay away from it, but some people will take what ever they can get. Cool

I have rode a 12 YZF, KXF and CRF, I have not rode an RMF or SXF. I am very Yamaha bias but for the average size rider I would go with the KXF. Clear winner IMO. But I would, no questions asked, take the YZF over the CRF. Yamaha is totally different comapred to other bikes with weight bias (feels like it anyway) but this is not bad, it is just a different technique. Kind of like riding the back wheel with a 2 stroke but cant cause it is a 4 stroke. But everywhere else it flat whips a CRF's ass. CRF has a little more power, not much.

But the main fact is, no matter the power, you can only go as fast as your suspension will let you and the YZF hands down has the best supension off the showroom floor.

I had a 2011 yz450f and now a 2012. I absolutely love the bike. But I had to adjust my riding position slightly to adjust to the chassi.

As someone mentioned, the bike don't like when you stand to much forward going down fast bumpy straights. It can bite you hard...I know of experience. But if you ride with an little more lower riding style and slightly more back, it's no problem. It's all about adjusting to the bike.

And to me it seems like Stewart don't like to change anything about himself. The bike needs to be adjusted all for him. And Stewart really likes to stand alot forward on the bike...and that's when this bike can do unpredictable stuff.

I guess JCRF217 dosent know shit about all the JUNK Honda put out for years in the 90s Honda shocks and forks sucked big time. Here are just a FEW of the other crap Honda has put out over the years.

1989 CR250r first year of upside down forks. They were so bad any time you hit a bump they would deflect and slam you to the ground. Honda sent out several updates and they still were...............JUNK
1997 CR250R first year with new frame.........................JUNK good thing it was SLOW too
1979 CR125R 23 inch wheel would NOT turn ..........Junk
1984 CR250R hooked rings in the ports on a regular basis.............JUNK
1976,77,78 CR125R all the other brands left Honda behind.............JUNK
1990 CR250R shift pawls were bad would not shift under load...........JUNK
I can go on and on.

No outdoors+signing late+bad luck @ starts+lacking focus/mental toughness= behind the 8 ball..
He's still got it but so does a couple more bad mofos he's racing.. He's turned the corner already and with a little luck we will see some of the finest dirt scooter indoor racing. Get off his back and JGR. For all that don't think that bike is working well review lap 15 of the St. Louis main. In the turn following the over under bridge James comes in very hot on Saps and turns that pig on a dime to avoid contact. Bikes fine,, lady luck is needed with a mega dose of confidence and a slice of humble pie.. Cool

I have a 2011 YZ450F and it is a PILE OF CRAP. It is the main reason I'm not winning the local pro classes and is the main reason I'm not sponsored by someone....someone BIG. If I had a good bike, like say anything as good as a 1954 RM125, I'd DOMINATE any race I entered. I'd be flickin it and whickin it all over the track.

Unfortunately for me (but lucky for my competetion), I'm stuck on that POS boat anchor. Sure wish I had a BSA 40 incher.

Just guessing but, I'd say a much higher percentage than the ones that rip on KTMs.

I agree 100 % on most have not ridden one. I have ridden all the 11's and had a 09 Honda with all the goodies on it. That bike was flat out scary on a whooped out fast straight (loved the small, light feeling though) and the tranny sucked. I now have 11 yammie and feel a lot more comfortable and faster but thats all relative because I still suck on any bike. lol
