I need OE carb jetting specs for a 1977 RM125B. Pilot, main, slide,needle and needle jet. Between the different online parts sites I'm getting stuff from one extreme to the other. Built this thing from pieces and have a aftermarket off the shelf Mikuni with generic jetting. Gotta get this thing close in the ballpark without taking it out for test runs and all my old Elsinore specs won't save me here.Smile But, it is alive!

A lot of the vintage bikes that people fawn over look like complete turds that have about as much "cool" factor as Erkel walking hand in hand with Barney. Just my opinion, of course. This one is different, it speaks to me. Very cool bike, Joe.

Never been attracted to a 77 RM125 myself, but the Richter bike just looked like something from another world the first time I saw it as a kid. Anyone that makes it to the Houston SX, hunt me down. Alright, you've pushed me to the limit here with this bike. That bike so cool from a cool era of MX. Always loved the old TMs and RMs. Is the adopt me in exchange for cleaning air filters for you offer still good? Just haven't got my wife and kids convinced yet. That is a sweet bike! Your stuff is pure art.

Much credit for the sweet stuff on this bike goes to a couple Vital members who without their help this project would most likely still be a pile of ratty ass looking parts piled in a corner or on a shelf. You never know who some people are here or what they are capable of. Screen names conceal an awful lot of talent around this place. Tydog and Alien....machinists extroadinaire. Axle hardware for Simon's forks, Fox replica watercooled head and head studs are just a sampling of what these guys did.

I'm gonna get shit for this; but, I hate the cylinder head...more of a fan of the actual RM/RH/RN motor from that era complete with fins and no-water. Remember Roger's insanely LIGHT Factory Zook RH/RNs? Ti bolts made to look like steel or plated to pass the magnet test...classic!

That bike you've built is PERFECTION...especially to those of us who grew up gettin' our gear over on McGlincy Lane in Campbell; in-fact, that tank represents our "look" back in the day...all the way down to our sox!

Beauty newmann. I'm a Suzuki guy from way back and had a 77 RM 125, and loved it. I'm just about to get a 1978 RM 125 ready for a little vintage racing, but it won't look like your scoot to be sure!

From p. 32 of the RM125B Owner's Manual (came w/ bike with manufacture date of
11/76):

Carburetor Specifications:

Type: VM32SS
Main Jet: 230
Jet Needle: 6DT5-3
Needle Jet: R-0
Cut-way: 2.0
Pilot Jet: 30
Pilot air adjusting screw: 1 turns back open (*)
Float level: 31.75mm (1.25 in)

(*) But then on p. 59 is a section titled "Pilot air screw":

"Warm up the engine and turn the pilot air screw clockwise until it seats in the
carburetor. Open the pilot air screw 1 1/2 turn counter-clockwise. Slowly turn
the pilot air screw in or out within 1/4 turn from standard setting (1 1/2 turn)
until the engine runs smoothly."

You might get a little shit!Wink I see the cylinder head as the equvilent of a fat ass diamond. It's the crown jewel of the bike. But is it really that functional? That's a whole other story there. Fox only ran the watercooled setup for two races from what Chuck Tannlund and some of the Fox guys have told me. One race, the inlet fitting was rubbing against the frame and vibrated loose puking out all the coolant. FTE has photos of the bike running out in Ca. with the air cooled head and I have this one from Rio Bravo taken by Mike Lagaza, air cooled also. The air cooled head just didn't do much for a twelve year old kid flipping through a mag though, the watercooled setup just adds to that whole works era wow factor. People weren't afraid to try something different.

Newmann, I can't help you, but this is for sure my favourite bike of all time. I absolutely love it!

This bike is about 5 years before I achieved moto-consciousness so I'm certainly not an expert here, but from my perspective the cylinder head is the crown jewel of this bike. Followed closely by the shocks, swingarm, and tank paint scheme. This is not to diminish the coolness of what appears to be a chain-less drivetrain Smile
