I have a track and the rule is you ride as much as you want but as soon as you pop the top on a alcoholic beverage the bike is parked period end of discussion. If I was to catch someone riding on my track after drinking they would never be allowed back.

As for the guys that say its ok to drink and ride at a public track that is about the most ignorant statment that I have ever heard. If someone was to do something stupid and hurt me or my family or friends on the track after riding man..... All I know is he better be the fastest bike loader ever because I would shove the bike up his arse and I bet those knobbys and foot pegs are going to hurt goint in....

Good idea. I hope when you get caught stealing someone's shit from their truck they break both your arms. Think about that.

I can see a few percocet and some weed but drinking just isn't cool. Wink

I work in a industry full of alcoholics and drug users and I've known guys that were so dependent that they had to use to be straight. Of course that's a whole Other story and if your that involved in drinking and drugging you usually don't partake in other hobbies.

What if one of your friends or family hurt somebody on the track by pure stupidity? Should they expect the bike to be shoved up their ass?

Here in California you have to sign a waiver form when you ride the tracks. I'm pretty sure they all say that drugs and alcohol or prohibited when riding. I know it would be hard to tell if someone was drunk or not, but there would have to be a difference between a normal "shit happens" crash and one where a guy was drunk and blew a corner or something and killed a kid. Little different when someone choses to drink and ride a dirt bike which is already dangerous.

With what your saying that drinking and driving a car and doing something stupid and hurting someone is ok because we have stupid drivers out there that do dumb things???

Yea hell I guess I see your ignorant point of view. Next time someone drunk at a track kills someone doing someting stupid we should all sit back and say hell its allright there are stupid sober riders out there to???

Ive seen Buggies in trees, front wheels bent back into motors, and more than my share of helicopters due to drrinking. Even had a drunk pull in front of me in a truck while i was jumping sand dunes and I T boned it. If you drink and ride ANYTHING you deserve what you get.

Drunk and having a drink are two entirely different things. Hell yeah, if somebody is drunk or even impaired, they have no business on the track. Drinking a single beer and driving a car is not an issue. Drinking 10 beers in an hour and driving is a major issue. You keep calling people ignorant, it seems the predominant problem is that people not familiar with drinking beer are too fucking ignorant to realize that having a beer is not the same as being shitfaced drunk.

Not familiar with drinking a beer I can guarantee is not a problem of mine.

And to say that alcohol involved in anything dangerous at any amount and saying its ok is ignorant especially when it involves the safety of others.

And as for your one drink issue I know of 2 people personnly that would have a hard time operating a garage door opener after one drink. Light weights yea but I bet I could drink 4 or 5 before it started affecting me some people more some less. I think its pretty selfish on someones part to risk others safety because of it.

What if you steal my shit and throw it on the road, tapkawiman runs over it, gets hurt, and sticks your bike up your ass; knobbies, foot pegs, and all? Think about that.

I agree with you that I would not want someone out of their mind on the track with me or my friends. My point again is that different people have different tolerances. You guys don't have to worry about me anymore anyway, my last crushed tib/fib pretty much did me in for competitive riding. And btw, I had not had a single beer that day. I still blame the lack of my pre-ride beer for underestimating the distance on the double.

Maybe I'm not understanding you guys, but are you saying:

1. Don't drink while riding on mx track.

2. Drink before you get in your truck to drive home.

I'm the VP at our local track and it isn't allowed at all. We have a strict policy about that. We do NOT want to send that message to any kids or other riders present!!! MODERATE post ride alcohol consumption is fine in which I partake in as well. Our phrase "if you wanna beer then get out of your gear." Most (if not all) of our members will abide by that rule and at least have their riding boots off as a sign of "yep, I'm done" which works.

So by that regard, I can't take Advil or Tylenol and ride? That is a drug, BTW.

Advil and Tylenol are non-narcotic, I think they are referring to narcotic type drugs. You know, the good stuff.

I always have a couple of beers during the day. The two times I didn't have a beer (due to very early morning starts) ended with surgery - major shoulder separation (1st time) and shattered tib/fib (2nd time.) I never drink a lot of beer at the track, but no way a couple of beers over several hours are going to negatively affect my coordination. On a related note, I remember a similar thread on motonews where a dude was going ballistic about anybody that would drink a beer at the track ... After one beer, they should be prosecuted, blah, blah, blah. Finally, somebody responded with "Dude, are you a religious fanatic, a recovering alcoholic, or just a fucking asshole."
I have the exact same story, I'll have a beer with lunch and when I'm feeling i don't have many moto's left. I'm not saying beer makes me ride better or safer but conveniently the 2 times I've been stone cold sober I've ended in the hospital, which makes it that much harder for me to change my routine. Riding is a fun thing I do with my buddies, were not pro's and never will be, so I'll continue having fun my way and give the rest of you something to talk about.

i raced in Bozeman years ago, there was one triple (or quad, not sure which) that was very hairy. but that was when i was young and fast, raced a lot of fast guys from MT in the 125B and 125A class; Cameron Weaver and Cory Earhardt are the first that come to mind (i've actually raced some hill-climbs against Cory, kid is awesome at hill-climbs these days).

anyway, sorry to get off topic.

i love beer
