Im surprised no one has commented on this unless i missed it. During his post race interview he said that he thought he had the best bike on the track tonight. How can he say that, when his fastest lap was over 1.5 seconds slower then the 2 out front who were absolutely dominating everyone. Does he really believe that his bike/riding was on par even though it wasnt, or did his heat win cloud his judgement possibly?

Well I'm sure his sponsors wouldn't like it to much if he said he thought it was a POS

Its not the bike!
JK, had to say it, everyone else has.

Maybe he felt more in control of the bike and it made him more comfortable??

I think he was using it in the context of the best bike that JGR has set up for him so far. I did not take it that he had the best bike on the track of the other riders.

Well i wouldnt expect him to say that either. Im just saying he had to know where the front 2 were out of the corner of his eye and when he said it, I took it as an entire field statement as opposed to just JGR bikes.

If he would have said " fuck that piece of shit metal junk" then this thread would be worth something. Now it`s just another day in the office.

well he did come from last to 6th and walking right off the track he probably had no idea that RV and CR's lap times were a lot faster...i doubt they throw stats in his face before the interviews begin...don't you think?

This.

Even though his bike looked best in Oakland. To me any way.

He looks disappointed every time they talk about his bike. Like he is working really hard on the setup but havent figured out what works best. Frustrating for sure.

Jesus Christ, can James do anything right in your guys' eyes?
2/21/2012 1:25pm
Just re-watched the race. James clearly said it in the context that it was the best his bike has been, he didn't compare it to anyone else's bikes at all. You guys are always digging for SOMETHING on James.

Yeah, you're right... the heat race win clouded his judgement. Winning does that.

During the race at the event they had an interview with Joe Gibbs and he was raving about the relationship with Yamaha and talking things up a bit. Sounds like the bike is working perfectly to me.

So potential sponsors in Nascar would never look at the guys interviews to see how he is on camera.

Think ahead a little James will be in a racing suit for some time to come.

I'll be surprised if James fares any better than RC at four wheels, it is such a different discipline than MX and I don't think he will have the skills and patience needed to get the car working and learn how to race them.

thats a very good point. Schumacher is/was great because of his ability to detect changes in the car and effectively communicate their effects. I would think that skill would be in almost higher demand when in a field where everyone is running the same (antiquated) equipment.

Now, to see Reed in a rally car would be tits.

His interest is not in nascar, he ran afew short coarse races in a Pro 4 or Pro 2 truck last season. I believe he's gonna follow Rick Johnsons lead and do the offroad thing with Torq.

I like James and his game, "go big or go home", but how the hell does he
know how Reed's bike feel's? He's never even raced red.

Bravado for The Coach and his boy, imo.

When he transitions to nascar, sponsors will be lining up for a chance to get their name on his car. Whether he can win or not won't matter. It will be a big deal for the sport to get someone of his fame and stature, just like it is this year with Danika Patrick switching to nascar full time. She got more media following her around and doing more interviews than Dale Jr ever had. Nascar will sell lots more spectator tickets too. James t-shirt and souveneir concession alone will probably net him more $$$ than he earns in sx right now .

I'll be surprised if he goes nascar. This is what he did while everyone else was racing outdoor nationals.

In the GoPro video from this week you can see when James runs up close to KW in a corner and they could have made contact then.
