I've been holding off on joining this place for several years; however, after the horrific crash Reed suffered this past Saturday night I felt the need to share my feelings regarding Speedy's career up until this point. I have been a long time Reed fan since his days back on the YOT 250f. I remember watching him win Daytona and thinking he was simply awesome (I was still a youngster back then). The next decade would be one filled with ups and down for Reedy, including Saturday's crash, but the one thing Reed did not do was quit.
You have to admire Reed for going against RC, Stew, and even RV and Dungey, and giving it his all time and time again even throughout all the criticism he endured during his time. My brother and I have stuck by Reedy from his days from underdog to his more or less iconic status in the moto world that he is today. Reedy was more than a hardcore moto'er in our eyes. He was the definition of determination, perseverance, and hard work.
Last year we, along with the other 60,000 sum crowd, got to witness one of the best races in the history of the sport in the Georgia Dome and I am absolutely devastated not to have the opportunity to spectate such an event this year (no dis to any riders- I'm a fan of all being a rider, just a very devoted 22 fan). From the 09 season forward in particular, Reed has made the school/ work week a little easier for us in hopes of seeing a victory ( or 2) on any given Saturday.
So Reedy here's a huge thanks to you and all your racing efforts that you have put forth the past few years. You made life pretty awesome for a couple country boys in a little podunk town. I sure hope that we have not seen the last of the Double Deuce, but in case Saturday was the final gate he hit, it's been one hell of ride Chad!! You'll always have two two-two fans in this corner and you'll always be the badass THUNDER FROM DOWN UNDER.

Then his bike quit in the monsoon at Daytona and I felt a little sorry for him.
Then he races the outdoors for little money but the chance to cash in on the insurance policy he purchased himself. Pretty cool I thought. The dude may be OK after all.
Then he starts his own team with some of his own money and does very well. Pretty respectable.
Then he has the most massive get off I've ever seen and remounts the freakin bike and charges forward. Bad ass.
The dude has won me over big time.
Well done, and welcome to the board.
Fast forward to his season with Factory Kawasaki. CR22 is chasing the SX champion, RD, around the Vegas Supercross track. I remember the broadcast talking about Chad/Ellie’s son being born and the passing of his best friend. For some reason, I overwhelmingly began to cheer for CR22. I started screaming for Reed to make the pass on RD. Reedy didn’t make the pass and slowly lost ground to the factory Zook rider. However, Round 1 of the outdoors, Reed rides his factory KX450F to victory.
2011 was a big year for CR22. None of the factories were willing to sign him so he started his own team. He had a hybrid privateer team and made it his mission to beat the factory teams. At this time, I am a huge fan of Reed. He loses the SX title and makes it his mission to win the national title. He wins many races and motos before the MN round. His crash and race after the crash at Miville was inspirational to me. It transcended beyond motocross, it was life. He refused to quit and pursued his mission of winning the title. At that point, Reed became one my top 5 riders (which include Hannah, Johnson, O’Mara, and RC) of all time.
In my opinion, 2012 has been Reed’s fastest season. At Texas, he could slow down and choose different lines and pick up time on RV. The two of them would have battled to the checker flag had it not been for his crash. I hope for a quick recovery. Keep living the good life Reedy.

Appreciate the edit, I suppose I could've done a better job formatting it.

No matter what Chad decides to do, he's a motherf'n bad ass. We are so lucky as fans to watch him race.
To the OP, great thread, BTW!
