So, does RV race James?

Assuming James gets his sh!t together and gets some starts, does RV battle with him for wins, or take second place? Of course, RV is a racer and wants to win, but, is it worth for him at this point to trade paint with Stewart who is so far back in points and risk getting taken out?

He we'll probably trade paint if it comes to it as he did with Reed two races ago but Villo will definitely or should, back off if it comes to that.

I suspect RV's plan will remain the same thus far...from the beginning he said if a win presents itself he'll take it. I don't think you'll see him do a win or crash trying approach with anyone-

On a flip side I don't see James racing RV dirty, not normally his style unless provoked.

RV's been running faster lap times than James during the mains. So, no, I don't expect RV to slow down to race James.

RV is smart enough to back it off when he needs to I think. He will always "want" to win.....but there will be nights when Stewart gets a better start , or Stewart is just plain faster that night. He has no reason what so ever to trade paint with James. Usually when a rider does that with James.....they both end up paying for it. There will be nights when RV is running 1st , and James in 2nd.........And James will have to ride like hell to stay with RV's pace. James has been having a hard time doing this as of late and unless something changes........things will stay the same this season.

I think RV would want to race JS, to be the best you beat the best and also who wouldn't want to go head to head against James?

The rider to benefit most now is RD. This is now RV's title to loose. This will energize RD as the title is now more realistic than it's been all season. One mistake by RV and Dungy is gonna be ready.

The smart thing might appear to it down. But its a slippery slope because once a athlete turns it off, its hard to turn it back on. Just ask the '93 Houston Oilers.

With Dungey lurking in the weeds just 13 back, RV may not have a choice but to battle. If Dunge and Bubba can get in a 1-2 start position, RV will have to race em both. Cant afford to give up momentum at this point.

I dont think this championship is far enough along to back it down yet. It's time to step on the competitions throat if you ask me. The last thing any racer wants to be doing is racing scared just trying to survive out a series with a lead.
