Wow....Are you going to keep track of all your expenses in rebuilding it? I am very curious to see how it turns out and how much it cost you if you wouldn't mind sharing.....

Awesome! These projects sux so badly it's painful to watch, but at the same time the feeling when it's done is priceless... Will be nice to see and hear the final results!

I can't believe how badly some people let bkes get hammered. But, I would have jumped on it too.

The 01 has a vastly better engine then the 02 but the 02 has it covered in handling and suspension.

Yes and no for me. I don't like projects that need "some" work. It is tough to draw the line on where to quit the refurb. That bike is pretty clapped out so you go into planning on doing everything.

I couldnt agree more man... I actually work at a yamaha dealership and I see shit on a daily basis that would make you cringe. Its either people with 0 intelligence or people with too damn much money that they just dont care enough to keep there equipment up.

Well after a week of ordering stuff and elbow grease its hard to tell a difference but Ive made a small push in the right direction of this rebuild... Starting monday it'll be Christmas again, moto style Smile

Ive ordered around $2,400 worth of goodies for ugly betty here. We'll see if we can get her running and shiny again. Atleast enough to where i dont have to throw a tarp of it to take it thru town haha.

Next week is going to be very busy throwing this madness together...Man I cant wait for Motosport, Rocky MC and Ebay to ship out. Im so anxious. Below are some pics of the damage in the bottom end, she was rode hard and technically put away dry Smile

Enjoy flaming the fact that I shouldnt invest so much money in a bike thats already 11 years old, simple fact is I rode my buddies 01' back when i was still on a 250F and I loved it...

Frame Before

Frame After

Wheels and old tires before

New tires, sprocket, and cleaned up

Horribly kept engine

Dissasembly

Pulling Crank

UGH, my first bottom end

Thanks for looking

ARRRRRRG i hate doing bottom end jobs. Frickin gears. If it looks like Chad Reeds bike when it's done you have to hunt him down and let him take it for a rip. Good luck and keep us posted.

Nice! I have an '01 also, love that bike. Pretty much my 100% trail bike, and gets split time 50/50 with the 250f for track days

I would man, but other than going to his autograph tent at the Dallas SX taking my shirt off and doing the Mac-a-reana, how would I go about getting CR22's attention? I would just enjoy him knowing I dedicated a total rebuild to his team but thats one busy dude!

Is the 01' Engine considered good among the Honda years. I know that had years where there bike had great this but shitty that, or great that but shitty this. Seems like at times they struggled with putting together a complete package. What was the story on the 01'?

Are you gonna change the subframe and add the plastics from the CRF 2012?

Keep uploading pictures, we enjoy a lot with those projects!

It seems to me to have decent bottom and top witj a really good mid hit. It has always been reliable which is my #1 criterion, but the motor isnt bad. Not as good off the bottom as my buddies suzuki but still strong

I too am the proud owner of a 12 year old vintage CR250. Original owner. It's lasted longer than my marriage!!! The 01 is a great all around off road moto capable of providing endless amounts of permagrin satisfaction.

The 01 was a great mid-top engine, it ripped. More than made up for the weak bottom end.

Do an 01' Ricky Carmichael replica, complete with Renthal handle bars one inch from the gas cap and thrush bird graphics.

RC rode a 2001 CR250 at the 2001 MXdN, immediately after his Kawi contract ended.

He actually rode Ezra Lusk's 2001 factory CR the very next day after the 2001 Steel City National.

Only thing you got wrong, was that RC "would" have ridden the 2001 at the MXdN. We didn't go that year because of 9-11. Sooo.... maybe your memory isn't as good as I thought! Woohoo

Ha! I got the pics on my home PC of him riding Ezra's stickerless CR the day after Steel City '01. Scanned them from a RacerX story I'm pretty sure.

Scottie in the countdown thread I'm pretty sure I posted pics of both sides of RC's 01 CR. I'm on my phone at work at the moment.

For your email too mate. I'll reply to it tonight Wink
