There isn't much info about this, but it looks like he had a crash about a month ago in wich he sustained injuries that resulted fatal.

Such a tragedy, RIP

I'm devastated by this news. For his last two Enduro World Championships I was commissioned by Honda Europe to produce a painting and also a copper etching of him in action.
Don't know any details at moment, will try & speak to Roger Harvey at Honda to find out what happened.
Last I heard was he'd retired from the sport.
Condolenses to his family, team mates and all sponsors & friends, a sad day for the sport.

Basically he crashed over a month ago practicing, but wasn't injured to the point of needing to go to the hospital immediately or carried off the track, but apparently some internal organ was injured during the crash which ultimately is what took his life. So sad.

What I heard is that because of that practice crash they had to remove his kidney, but the complications that followed operation were the reason for his dead. This is really sad and being from Finland I have many friends that knew him personally and it's huge shocker to everyone. Rest in peace Mika.

Wow....

Mika was one of the greatest personalities in our sport and arguably the greatest enduro rider ever. Got the chance to speak with him at the ISDE several years ago and I remember walking away thinking what a genuine and happy person he was.

This is a huge loss for our sport. My condolences to his friends and family.

Being from the U.S. I didn't get to see him very much but at every isde I was at we ran into each other and spent some time talking. Great guy and my condolences to his family.
